I love the look of that flex. And I even love the plans for it. Till ya got to the gold wheels... Do you think that is an age group difference, or a left coast thing?

I am almost 40 so not sure it is an age thing but its a west cost thing. I may do something like a BBS turbo fan wheel cover. They make them up to 19 inches now and it would look pretty cool. I am 90% sure I could even make a set as long as I bought the lug nut conversion kit which is ~40 a wheel. But for 400$ a full set I could like with what they have on the shelf.
These are also pretty cheap and look the mesh part.

Oh man, those wheels are really nice!
Also gold wheels 4 life, and I'm in my 30's and a southern native transplanted to the pnw.

Yep, still just a kid! (but a pretty cool one from your other threads!)

Forty was a lifetime ago for building car preferences, for some of us.
FWIW, I was mostly being silly... although they are def. not for me. Don't make me wrong, just different. (ok, I admit it... might translate to kinda odd in my case )
This is one car where I truly can't picture what wheels would look good on it. But the Flex has always had the perfect and slightly intriguing "surfer-bro" look to me, so it'll be interesting to see how this comes together.

I like that. Need to see if I can reverse image search it and find the owner.
Also found a silly sticker to make on the vinyl cutter.

Hahaha that is 100% appropriate!
I feel like a set of gold Rotiform LAS-R's
Or a set of RS05RR's would look the business on a Flex of that color.
One of my summer dailies/seemingly eternal projects is a '91 LS400, blue over blue leather, on bags. Considered a "classic" in VIP circles, but I love the idea of branching out with odd or unique vehicle choices! Hell, even the owner of famed Japanese VIP aftermarket parts house Junction Produce is offering wheels and bodykits for a few of the Rolls, so clearly it's about the vibe, not the country of origin.
Thing is, if you're really doing VIP you need to ditch Rotiform or at the very least move toward their multipiece offerings.
The size vehicles you've been considering all need large diameter wheels, and luckily for you, that's getting to be easy to come by these days—importers are bringing boatloads in, and tire sizes are easier found for 19s these days than 17s or 16s. Weird world we're living in.
Yeah I know I just wanted to go single piece this time as the three pieces I have had in the past were pain. Something like a HRE in a flowform could do it was well. I did find a set of TE37's in a 18 x9.5 with the correct backspacing that would work but they are to small. Could look cool static dropped on some bigger tires but not 100% feeling it yet. May just pick up the set at 1000$ and have them refinished for something else down the line. They go bad rash.
In other news got the cashiers check and it should be in my possession in another 20 hours or so.
Short review. This is a luxury Honda Element with some balllllls. I love it. Just did 200 miles like nothing with ac seats running listening to podcasts. Has some wind noise from the roof racks and because it's a brick but nothing terrible.
just needs a tune and nothing more this thing done in power and another 40-50 on a 91 tune will make it perfect.
Also how can Ford have gotten the suspension so perfect on this with standard struts and screwed up the continental.
In reply to wearymicrobe :
That's Ford really can't ever get anything right with Lincoln. Though the new Nav is pretty lol.
Fixed the last of the wind noise with some glue on a b pillars.
so onto the modifications. First and foremost is stereo. So I have 150sqf of killmat on the way. Two sets of used focals for the doors. The. Subwoofer and amps when I get a chance. Likely doing two 12s on the rear. Likely jlw6s. Once I get in and measure I may do 3 x 10s.
All four doors are dynamated. Each door took 12sqf!! Seats come out tomorrow for the floor to be finished then pulling the subwoofer to poly fill the box and see how much space I have for amps if I remove it and put a w7 10 where the spare tire goes. Likely not going to pull the headline out and do the roof but it's on the list
Ended up using a set of r spec alpine door speakers front and back. Need to find a nice center that fits. Looking at one of the 7 channel d types where I can dial out the factory sound scaling.
Also found the last real noise in the car which was the door handle cover. Little rubber in the back and reseating it fixed that.
See all that rubber sound deadening under the middle seat floor. Its all bare metal all the way back. The carpet has some foam but nothing major. I am amazed how quiet this car is with as little sound killer as it has in it. The doors are no bank vaults, not sure how adding 10lb's od sound deadening make them so heavy but its so much better.
I have another 50squ of so to go in. Then I think I am done. Before I could turn the stereo up to MAX and still hear a bit of noise. Now at ~40% nothing but stereo not even tire noise. Hoping to get it down to around 25% or so. There is also zero room for subs in the back if I want to keep the seats. I can do under the front seats for sure with some slimline JL's but not much air space to work with.
Same with the rear tailgate. Not sure if I need to pull the rear black cover or not and get under there. I put some scraps inside and did the knock test and it did pretty good.
I am not sure I need to pull the headliner. The only noise I can hear is wind up high. Down low tons of tire noise which is due to the sticky tires but this will solve that and when they die I will put a new set of ultra quiets on.

Damn I might dynomat my most recent purchase. But that's a lot of sq ft for me
Did the Flex have the Sony system in it?
In reply to yupididit :
This one had the Sony. If you sound deadened the whole car no need to go with better anything if you just want a family hauler. I just wanted to play around and I had the matting to do it. Took about six hours all in not counting the cleaning.
This thing is a tomb now. The only noise that is getting through is the windows. You can feel the suspension and tires moving around but not hear them very well. It's spoooky to drive. At about 8 out of 30 on the stereo now I cannot even hear the engine running at city speeds. You punch it and you can hear the motor a bit. It's way to much of a brick to even be 100% perfect but now it's really good.
so onto subwoofers and wheels next.
I had a base model 2012 flex company car, and loved it as an everything hauler. For a brief time I had a SHO and it was a riot in the winter on Blizzaks. Boosted Flex is wifey's next ride, no question.
The flex is sold. Long live its replacement which I should hopefully have in the next month or two if I can find one.... I think I have the Corvette sold as well and I also another two project bikes I had sitting around so the replacement will be garaged and therefore much nicer. Dads friend wore his flex completely out and his wife who has some back pain adores the Flex so I am letting it go to him. Father and law and I are going to share his pickup for when I need to tow which means no truck needed.
I am driving about 3-4K miles a year all at slow speeds and all in traffic so I am going nuts and looking at a Flying Spur or a Ghost. Also looking at a G55 from one of my uncles who is getting to old to use it everyday. Wife is pulling for another R8 spyder that she can use on the weekend or a 911 which are the safe choices.
