They are trying to beat Lexus and Toyota for the "Ugliest Car of the Year" award...

Yeah Toyota did release that horrible C-HR.

I saw one of those the other day that was lowered a bit and had some volks on it, I thought it looked awesome.

This wasnt it but I think that's pretty.

New Camry and Prius are ugly. I didn't like the new Maxima at first but it has grown on me and also it drives really nice. Call me weird but I like the looks of the Leaf. Mazda has some of the better looking vehicles out there. I wanted to like the new cx-5 but the lack of manual trans and that darn infotainment system with the clicker just turned me off. A Subaru might be the next car in my drive way.

I like old Nissans and Datsuns, but I don't think they've always been built as well as a Honda or Toyota.  It also reflects in the price that undercuts the competition as well.  That money has to be taken from someone's budget.  We all miss the 300ZX, SE-R, 240Sx, etc, I even miss my weird NX2000 but I guess that doesn't have the greatest styling either.

With Nissan and Renault in cahoots it would be nice to see some of the fun Renault Sport styling show up with a Nissan badge.  I watched a review of the latest Megane RS tonight and the description was dead on - halfway between the anonymous Golf R and outlandish Civic Type R.

Yet, none of this really matters since the general public wants as many Rogues and infinitesimally smaller Rogue Sports as they can get their hands on.  I think its the No.2 best selling SUV right now.

The Japanese are making some ugly cars right now. That's very unfortunate

But when wasn't that the case?  You'd have to fo back to the Toyota 2000GT and the Datsun 240Z to get really good looking cars.  Nothing since has reached that level, IMHO.

I think saying that you have to go back to the 60s to get really good looking cars from Japanese companies is a gross exaggeration lol.

Starion, Supra (2nd and 4th gen), FD RX7, R33 GTR, X100 Toyota Chaser Tourer V, just off the top of my head.

I mean we have a great looking sports car and a great looking midsize sedan right here. Japan had great looking cars of all kinds.

At least the FD RX-7--- that was truly a pretty car.

The RF doesn't do it for me though.  I find it very odd looking from some angles, and it looks like it's on stilts from the factory.

I thought perhaps I was the only one.  Being a multiple past Miata owner, I want to like it, but it looks a bit like it was once a larger car that was left out in the rain and shrunk in spots.  It would benefit from being slightly larger.  Going with the same basic shape and being the same size as the NC I think would have done wonders for it.  I sat in one at the dealer and felt like a full size adult in a pedal car.  I'm sure it drives great however.

I'm kind of a Nissan fanboi myself, have owned several 240SX. I am quite saddened by how things have been going with them recently. They are definitely past their 80s and 90s glory-days. My interest in a Nissan as a daily driver for myself or wife is about 0. Mazda is where it's at for us right now.  Slow in a straight line, but they look nice inside and out and have nice control feels.

Kanaric- you're an r33 fan eh?  They're the unloved gen of the main three, that's for sure.  As a multi time zenki S14 owner though, I actually kind of enjoy the styling. R32 are cool, and I really like r34 but they're already stupid money for what they are. I would not spend GT4 or 997 GT3 money on a Skyline GT-R, sorry.

Was it "Automobile" that used to have the "By Design" or whatever it was called column?  That was one of my favorite things to read.  I liked how they did a good mix of exotics and prototypes and cars for the average Joe.

Oh sweet Mary! Yes I'm in a bar. But am I alone in thinking every Nissan haterade post should end up under a patio?! Get out there folk. It's Friday night! Gah! winkcheekyangel I'm pondering driving down to Savannah for Saint Patricks in my SE-R. Now that would be a better Nissan topic. 9hrs? smiley
