Looking for some ideas for a car for my wife. She runs a dog rescue operation and has an S10 Blazer for that, but her non dog hauling car (LeSabre) threw a rod. So with the price of fuel, looking for something reasonably efficient (25 mpg +). Criteria are:
Auto or manual
4 dr or hatch
Fuel efficent
Front or AWD (major snow here in winter)
Enjoyable to drive
Reliable
Around $4K

put two spaces after the word and before the carriage return
(BTW, It fits almost NONE of your criteria, but I expect that your wife would LOVE a miata)

Protege or focus seem like the best bang for the buck.

If she liked that LeSabre, how about the Buick Rendezvous? Avoid the more complex awd version and stick with the fwd which still has good ground clearance for that tall snow.
MPG will be the same as the LeSabre (if that is good for you.)
