My package (heh, heh), left for its mystery recipient in Raleigh yesterday. Hopefully Santa's USPS elves are working tomorrow. Probably shouldn't have taken that Ambien before filling the box up. Apologies in advance if its just laundry.
Pics of my haul coming soon.
...and the torture is over. Mrs. ShawneeCreek is home. Let's open the package.
First impressions are good. We've got a Sunpro boost gauge, a nylon brush, fuses and shrink tube, and something under cardboard. So what is that something?
Turns out to be an Alpine CD player, 1995 vintage, with a whopping 25 watts per channel.
The rest of the haul:
We have some .030" flux core welding wire, an exhaust clamp, miscellaneous bolts, some stickers, and last (but not least) are two palm tree air fresheners.
Thank you to the sender in Pennsylvania. I can use the boost gauge in the BMW, the electrical bits are handy, and Mrs. ShawneeCreek likes the air fresheners. Theo also approves:
Thanks again to Hungary Bill for organizing this. It's been fun.
As promised, pictures of my Christmas present...
I came home today to find a very honestly labeled box on my front porch:
Wally of the frozen north (New York) drew my name and sent ma a fantastic array of goodies - some super cool hot wheels cars, an awesome book by Brock Yate, a tin of cookies (which I might mention are already gone) some decals for my tool box, a floaty penguin toy (a vintage McDonald's collectible, I believe) and, because it's Wally, of course, AN ENTIRE BUS!
You'll note with envy that I'm also a Lego VIP thanks to Wally and have a bitchin' authentic New York Deli Magnet(TM).
Wally and Mrs Wally were also kind enough to include Holiday wishes on a personalized card featuring a glamour shot of Ollie himself
What a blast! Thanks Wally, and be sure to wish Judy and Ollie a very Merry Christmas for me!
Two very good hauls!
To Shawnee,
That Alpine could look wonderfully "period correct" in your e30.
Any indication it it works?
Here, such an opportunity missed. I had not thought of sending photos of my dog to the recipient! Too good.
My package arrived today.
Unfortunately I am right in the middle of a shop relocation project and could not find a single box cutter... I Had to improvise.
I carefully opened the package and my new-found loot spilled out.
Let's see what we have here.
we've got some explorer parts, an idler pulley, probably a license plate holder for a trailer... maybe, and a windsheild mounted recipe holder.
Some sort of audio switch and a rock. I wish I'd thought of that.
A beer coozie with beer, sand paper, an exhaust tip, twist ties for plants? plastic end caps for square tubing, scotch brite, a vacuum cap, a spring, a bungie, death wheels and a sprocket that is definitely getting sharpened into a shuriken.
A variety of stickers and magnets including a farting donkey. Because the south.
And finally an assortment of sex toys that I frankly cannot wait to try.
Thanks Secret Satan!

Was that the only thing in the box?

Me too. My first time participating and I should have looked back at last year's thread!
In reply to ShawneeCreek:
You were killing me with the wait all afternoon! Glad you like my package . Furious She, the cat enthusiast, will get a kick out of Theo. Excess of duct tape was simply due to lack of proper packing tape.
The Alpine deck should work ok, assuming it survived the USPS. Came in my Jeep when I bought it and I decided to swap it for a Kenwood I had laying around because it had an aux jack and USB port. I was hoping someone would want it as a period correct piece.
Anyways, Merry Christmas and thanks again to Hungary Bill!

Damn! I forgot that I have like 5 of those from when they were on super sale on summit...Guess I'll start setting stuff aside for next year!
In reply to cmcgregor:
That's exactly where this one came from. I ordered a handful of boost and oil pressure gauges and actually made a net gain on the purchase when I got a $20 coupon with the order
In reply to ultraclyde:
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Some of that clutter was pilfered from the nicest people I know.
Busy day for packages, so much fun watching randomness get sent.
I came home today and got a delivery too! All the way from Cumming, Georgia
Oh a big hefty box, what ever could it contain?
Let us call upon the portable cutting implement bestowed upon us in the first GRM New Years Game.
It's... it's... another box! Chuckles were had. This one is wrapped, perhaps I should wait until Christmas?
Disregard snap caps package to obscure my info- the sender was thorough enough to place an address label just in case.
Ah! got me again! I see what you did there...
Holy carp what a gift!
First, some stickers including one from my favorite motorsports magazine, well... my favorite magazine period, a lanyard to visit Florida and some Exedy grease;
And then...
Fuses
Fuse holder
Fuse holder from a club car/race car?
Hanging retractable instrument holder
Hanging wheel pulley
Hawk high temp lube to go along with my Hawk stickers
A length of cord with LEDs
Automotive wire guide
Two exhaust insulators
Cigarette adapter with lead and push lighter
An angled gauge bezel
I wish I had taken a picture of how the box was packed, I got too excited. Clearly we were dealing with someone very efficient and methodical. Someone who must be a high level tetris master or uhaul truck loader. Because look what else they managed to include in that box within a box wrapped in duct tape and then wrapping paper;
Ratcheting, reversible gearwrench set in SAE with holder
Ratcheting, reversible gearwrench set in Metric with holder
9 Pc 3/8 in. & 1/2 in. drive Metric Hex Socket Set
Multi bit screwdriver with 4 different heads
These must be new because the 10mm have yet to wander off
Keychain measure tape
As if that were not enough... a black & decker pouch and something odd shaped wrapped in a plastic grocery bag, I'm almost afraid to open it. It's hard, roundish, what is it?!?
The suspense is almost too much, let's spin and twist this thing free...
Wooden handmade shift knob, way cool! My gf likes it and thinks it looks vintage. It even fits our project car (Mazda MX-6) I was wondering what knob to replace the old factory one with, this one is perfect.
Thank you to the very generous GRM'er from Cumming, GA for the wonderful gift!
In reply to DuctTape&Bondo:
Wow, even at Harbor Freight prices, that's $50 to $100 just in hand tool. Hell of a gift.
In reply to DuctTape&Bondo:
Glad you liked it! Sorry for the box in a box with labels on everything, but I've had stuff lost in transit and wanted to make sure it got there.
Merry Christmas all!
My package came a couple of days ago and here is the haul:
The box:
A bunch of old standard wrenches in an old socket set box:
(My 9 year old has claimed the wrenches and box)
A utility knife and Kobalt 1/4 drive socket set, also standard:
Build The Perfect Beast book, already in my night stand:
And a hand written note:
Not pictured is the bubble wrap that I re purposed for my Holiday surprise box.
I have not figured out who sent my box yet but it looks like you sent some GA weather with the package because it is supposed to hit 50 here.
Thanks for the loot, I will try to put it to good use.
Damn. seeing some of this swag is making me feel guilty for the poor sap getting my box. I should have paid more attention last year.
Hits away! I got my box in the mail this morning, ct to pa shouldn't take too long, so you'll probably have it on tuesday I'd guess.
If it (almost) fits, it ships, apparently :)
In reply to EvanB:
My wife was happy for me to thin out my crap. Hopefully the light switch works, it came from Habitat, did you notice the dimmer slide? Perfect for that "special" room.
I feel bad. My box was not nearly as awesome as some of the stuff I am seeing. Will try harder next year.

Yeah the guy thats getting mine is getting shorted.
Heres my haul from EvanB if i jump to an only slight conclusion as it appears he is just as creative as I am with our screen names and wrote a return address...
