Being a Jaguars fan I've suffered enough years to not want to risk a jinx by trash talking. I too wish the best for the Browns as I know what it's like to lose season after season.
Lions fan, so
As for the NFL as a whole, I watched less of it last year than any time in the last decade. I expect the trend to continue this year.
Same here. It's not the taking a knee thing, or E36 M3ty owners, etc... It's that the games are boring as hell. There's like like 45 minutes of actual play. I've got better ways to waste time. At least baseball admits it's slower than death.

In reply to Appleseed :
DVR the game and watch it that way. There is maybe 20 minutes of actual playing in a 4 hour long game. The rest is incessant TV time outs/commercials and big men standing around.
Pointyball is a monstrous success because of the money.. that comes from the broadcast being 50% commercials. I don't care to watch it because of those commercials - in a post Netflix world, I despise commercials.
Sometimes but not often, I watch anyway and the action in between the commercials is cool. Go Browns.
I'd also like to see the players stand during the anthem... then kneel during the coin flip. Make a point but remove the political angle entirely.
My only hope is the ravens defense looks good again and they do not lose to the Cleveland clowns. Otherwise with the same stale offense plus or minus a few other old guys I don't see a great season ahead.

Soccer? Is that the game where they spend 90 minutes running around after the ball and finish with a super exciting 1-0 score? Yeah, I don't watch that.
You forgot about how they fall down and pretend to be dying anytime another player touches them or comes close to them.
Can't watch soccer either, it's dreadful.
I actually have gotten into a debate with some soccer fans who want to insist that it's a "contact" sport. Sigh...

Its the most wonderful time of the year as the "Why Your Team Sucks" articles start rolling out!
Cleveland Browns
Y'all can keep your NFL, I'm waiting for hockey season to start! (Not much else to do when you're a Browns fan.)

Hell yes. Drew Magary is a national treasure.
If the Bears loose every single game but beat the Packers both times, it will still be a winning season.
Colts need a new owner. Probably won't watch any games until "The Big Game" again this year. I have 5 hungry turbo dodges to feed after all.

Well, they do occasionally make contact with the ball with their feet and/or head.

NBA?
Yeah, I almost included the current version of the NBA in my post. I haven't really watched an NBA game since the early 90's when they went all silly with the officiating during the Jordan era. Seems like it has only gotten worse now.

I just hope to make the Pats game in Buffalo. In a Gronk jersey, because death wish.

I thought hockey season was year round with no off season. I thought the Stanley cup ended, then like the next weekend it was time for pre-season games.

The time in between is motorcycle season. Everything else is waiting.
My interest in the NFL has waned as more things compete for my time. The circus around it involving all things not-football related is in some ways more interesting and important than the actual games.
With all that being said, I still enjoy watching the highlight clips for regular season games. I'll tune in and watch some actual games when the playoffs come around. To me, that is when the real season starts.
If the Steelers get knocked out before that, I'll pick another team to pull for based on a Byzantine set of criteria revolving around hating the Cowboys, having a family full of Giants fans and living in North Carolina.
I have to admit, I watched less football last year than any other year of my life. Part of it is the lack of hitting, and elimination of the kickoffs for all intensive purposes. It's just not the same game I played as a kid.
Part of it is instant replay, and how slow it's made the game.....part of it is they can't figure out what defines a catch, and what doesn't---- which gets annoying. Part of it is I now know that those guys are doing real damage to their brains when they take a big hit----kinda takes the fun out of it.
Part of it is I'm older now and less interested in sports in general. I'd rather do stuff, than watch stuff.
When I do catch a game I am still amazed at how talented those athletes are. NFL football may not be what it once was, but the athletes themselves are far bigger, faster and more talented than they've ever been. It's pretty impressive---especially if you've ever played and understand the idiosyncrasies of the game.
I'll watch a bit this year, but I don't see myself going out of my way---- and dedicating my entire Sunday to the game like I used to.
I'll still root for the Bears, and against the Packers..... don't think I'll be able to shake that till I die!
I am from Philadelphia, home of the glorious Eagles. Nobody likes us, we don’t berkeleying care.
Hadn't really followed NFL in many years, until 2013 when I heard the Seahawks coach was starting a rookie quarterback. Thought that might be interesting. Understatement.
It's not worth watching a game, so I listened to the whole season in my garage on the radio, and have kept doing that since then.
Watched the two superbowls, but otherwise all via radio, while working on other stuff. Luckily the radio announcer Steve Raible is awesome.
This year, it's like a college team with a whole new roster. 8-8
