I think all of the pumped up assets will go to 2020 values + 15-30% by the end of 2023. This includes housing.

I don't think housing goes back to 2020 levels because of supply but it does get more back to normal.

Everyone is like damn Tesla/Bitcoin/Etc. are getting hammered but if you look to today's date 2020, they are up 2x-5x. Bitcoin today 2020 was at 8K and Tesla was at 28 (accounting for the split) So if getting hammered is still at least doubling your $$ in 2 years, then it's not a bad thing. The only ones that got hammered were those that bought in the last 18 months.

I think you missed a split on Tesla. Tesla is $115 or so right now and split adjusted that was $235 at the end of 2020.

Many will continue to make E36 M3 happen, many will continue to not make E36 M3 happen.  Both sides will complain about the other side and who is right or wrong. Realistically does much change from year to year for most people here? Some join, some leave, life goes on.

2023 will not be a train wreck or a dumpster fire.  It will be a combination of both.

Sorry.  You did ask.

Sorry, I beg to differ. It may seem like a train wreck and dumpster file all roll up into one at times, but in hindsight it will not be as bad as we think it will be.

2023 will not be pretty, but 2023 will be the calm before the storm that is the 2024 election cycle.

Sorry, I just want to remind everyone that while 2023 may look dark at times, we should appreciate the bright spots.  It's kind of a "you don't know what you've got till it's gone" reminder for the coming year.

I'm actually fairly optimistic about 2023, at least compared to the last couple years. If China hasn't been holding all the COVID in the closet with their zero-COVID policy, we'll probably see the pandemic eke to an end with the worst behind us (that one's 50/50, could definitely go the other way though). The era of global democratic backsliding seems to be coming to an end. If we're really lucky we'll see the end of cryptocurrency and the age of ransomware, sanctions evasion, and douchey cryptobros it enabled. I think Russia will be pushed out of Ukraine by the end of next year and hopefully that will set an example.

As for the markets and economy, who knows, it's chaos.

Just off the top of my head, Appleseed's doing a lot better for himself these days, Dusterbd13 got a much less stressful new job and beat a scary health problem, I've gone from a crappy 3rd-world job to a sorta OK first world job which is a big upgrade, and there's a good chance I'll make the switch to self-employment over the next couple years.

And all of that improvement was self made, it has nothing to do with what is happening in the world.  That was my point, people get all up in arms about Politics, and what other people are (or are not) doing, when it has no effect on their day to day life, so why bother worrying about it? Would Dusterb13 have not beaten the health issues if someone else was in the The White House?

So many people are worried about what others are doing they don't pay attention to what they should be doing to take care of themselves.

I had an uncle who would've survived the pandemic if certain famous people hadn't supported anti-mask causes and anti-vax theories. If I hadn't kept an eye on what others were doing I might still be pointlessly working away on trying to make it where I used to live instead of realizing that I had to move away to make any progress. Keeping an eye on what others were doing also helped me avoid what could've been disastrous travel mistakes over the last couple years. Nobody lives in a vacuum, and the less wealthy and powerful you are, the more you're affected by what others are (or aren't) doing.

Good luck with that.  When there are two sides to an argument- one is supported by real data, the other is just said- people will choose either based on who is saying it.

How next year turns out is rather predicated on that.
