I am honestly okay if they get rid of the preseason games fully, if not shave a couple off.  Shared practices with other teams seem to be pretty effective.

Browns prospective new location of stadium $3+ Billion stadium, both are about the same distance, but I don't know how they are going to get the $1.1 Billion from tax payers. I wish they would find a new location in downtown that can support a dome, there are plenty of vacant and shotty buildings that could be torn down.

Well, I'm conflicted.  I feel bad for JJ McCarthy but not so much for the Vikings needing to find another QB...

Isn't their current stadium only like 25 years old? Good gravy.

The way we throw away perfectly good stadiums in this country (at taxpayer expense for the most part) is absolutely maddening. NFL team owners bring in hundreds of millions a year. If they want new stadiums, they should damn well pay for them themselves.

They also pay out hundreds of millions in local salaries, help with public services and local charities.  Ask any ex-NFL city if they want their team back.  Hell there are cites begging for a team to come to them.  Fact check your statement about mostly taxpayer supported.  I think you'll find that most new stadiums are 50/50.

Is 50/50 good? Especially when most new stadiums are built because the owners want to maximize revenue from luxury suites and vending. Chicago doesn't seem to think so.

From that article:

The proposal calls for $2.025 billion from the Bears, $300 million from an NFL loan and $900 million in bonds from the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority. The funding from the ISFA would involve extending bonds of the existing 2% hotel tax.

That's roughly a 2/3rds to 1/3rd split in favor of taxes being the 1/3rd.

Jacksonville approved it's new stadium. What's not said in this article is that the Jaguars will pay for any cost overruns. In projects like this there's always cost overruns.

Regardless of the split, my point remains that taxpayers shouldn't be on the hook for this stuff at all. It's hardly ever worth it.

But we are getting way off topic. Far be it for me to have sympathy for a division rival, but damn if the Vikings don't seem to be cursed this offseason.

I have a soft spot for the Vikings because as a young impressionable elementary age kid my six year older brother liked them.  Fran Tarkenton is still my favorite QB of all time.

I have nothing to say. I just want things to continue the way they have been going. Still wouldn't mind if we traded for a pass rusher, though.

We did that, but he didn't play so that he could get his week off.

But what an incredibly ugly win.  Goff had the most interceptions in his career.  And somehow they still managed to have a walk off FG.

What are you talking about? That game was never in doubt! laugh

Seriously, though, that was the worst I've seen Goff play in a Lions uniform. Even though the first two picks were tipped balls and the third was a hail mary, the others were just bad throws. And even when he wasn't throwing picks, he was missing guys and throwing balls in the dirt. For whatever reason, he just didn't have it last night. Hell of a comeback, though. Seemed like the O-line eventually wore them down and got the running game going in the fourth quarter.

An ugly win is still a win. Just ask the Chiefs!

Once again Art Modell will be pushed on the ballet for HOF and once again Browns reporter Tony Grossi will ask everyone to vote against him getting into the HOF. He made Paul Brown leave, Jim Brown retire early, Robbed Cleveland of a team and sent them to purgatory. Before the Browns left they had Bill Belicheck and Nick Saban as coaches, imagine what could have happened. Browns are cursed.
