How durable are these as a daily driver/about 15k per year? I also see snow (I would get snow tires), I assume they are decent in cold as well?

2010+ skip the whole ims controversy (although none of it really would stop me). I think it's a great idea
One of my favorite cars. I know I'll piss off the Porsche purists, but I felt the Cayman embodies the true spirit of the original 911 better than the actual current 911.

Yep, a GRM member once said to me “I’m not surprised you like the Cayman so much, it’s a better 911 than a 911”.
Insurance can be tricky if its the only vehicle on your policy. Apparently some insures don't like people driving expensive (to fix) cars daily.
Excellent idea, AFAIK the IMSB-free 9A1 engines started in 2009.
I think there was an article in the Porsche magazine about the benefits of the 2.9L "non-S" 9A1 engine. Apparently because it didn't have the DI of the 3.4 "S" it was one of the most trouble free engines Porsche put in a 987.

That's not what makes you a bad person.
The second generation cars are more refined and much more comfortable inside. They have an extra two inches of legroom and the dash and controls are a lot nicer.
I'm looking for a new dog and cat hauler that the wife will drive as well. Apparently she does not share my love for 89-91 square body suburbans, so this thread is of interest to me since the Cayanne turbo is on my list.

Cayman, not Cayanne.... Hauling dogs in a Cayman sounds....uh.... "fun."

Dog is my copilot
Small dogs in the frunk?
My dog always rides in the front seat or on the front floor anyway. She won't stay in the back.
Anyway I'm not sure I can make the numbers work this year, but after a year of saving I will definitely pursue it. And in the meantime, lots of looking while at work. Thanks for the tip about insurance costs also, I'll check into that.
I have daily driven two boxsters and two 911s over the last 10 years or so. I can assure you, these cars are comfortable, reliable, efficient, and FUN.
I don't understand why someone would spend $30,000 on a new Camraccordima or bimbo box when you can get into Porsches that are known to do 400-500 thousand miles without a hiccup.
It's the Consumer Reports mindset (I know because my dad is in it right now, insisting that the only car he can buy is a Camry). He's constantly telling me that CR is recommending my current car as a "recommended buy"... but, I'm already driving the thing, so why do I care?
I have driven a Boxster before but as a pale dude who tends to burn living in a varied climate, I think a hardtop would be a better choice. I'm assuming they are pretty similar (of course I will drive before any purchase).
