I was always partial to dire straits' "Romeo and Juliet", but "The Man's Too Strong" is a close second.

Brothers in Arms FTW

Romeo and Juliette is another favorite;

Doctor Parkinson declared, "I'm not surprised to see you here, you've got Smoker's Cough from Smoking and Brewer's Droop from drinking beer! I don't know how you came to get those Betty Davis... knees, but worst of all young man you've got Industrial Disease!"
I love that song.
It is hard to beat telegraph road, especially as a mini rock opera. The last 5 mins in particular are particularly epic, and often played when I'm making a late night high speed drive.
I have lots of association wife Dire Straits, as when I was growing up, 3 of the 6 CDs in the changer on my dad's 91 LS400 were DS, and on the drives to our New Hampshire house from Boston, they were usually playing
Good stuff
I like this one - Why Worry
But this version of the same song is my new fav - Why Worry w/EmmyLou

Saw them three times on three different tours in Melbourne, they were amazing
The first time I heard "Sultans of swing" I was hooked

They have Neil Young and the Guess Who too.
The word might be the second most offensive one that you could call another person. And I know that raps songs are filled with the first, but that's another topic.
Calling someone by that word pretty much guarnatees violence -- either a fight, or a bashing.
Before you get your knickers in a knot -- note that I didn't say I agreed with the decsion . . ..

Poop, you're wrong.
It's only hate speech if you, as you point out, "incite" through rhetoric or action hatred. It doesn't qualify by itself.
Every reasonable country places limits on freedoms (we've all had this discussion before) -- your own justice Oliver Wendell Holmes said that freee speech doesn't include the right to shout "fire in a theatre".
We haven't banned Huckleberry Finn, and we can show nudity on tv -- so perhaps those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones
Since 'fag' is British slang for a cigarette, better be careful how you bum a smoke in Canada or it could land you in the slammer. [flounder] Down here in the Great Satan, it's social pressure that pushes certain words out of common usage, we don't need no Nanny State to tell us to do it. [/flounder]
I wore out two Brothers in Arms cassettes and now have the CD, still gets played every so often. Y'all have hit most of my favorites so far, here's another:

'I'm tired of bein' in love and all alone...'
Knopfler is a car nut as well, along with Nick Mason. Glad to think a little of what I spent on tapes and CDs helped preserve some iconic race iron.
Another '80's favorite:

When you compare their individual music styles, it's hard to believe he and Phil Collins were in the same band.

Not true. They also play Loverboy.

And Foreigner. And April Wine. You know, all the "B" bands

Are you guys getting the new PC version of Huck Finn that is being printed?

No doubt the publisher will try to sell it here. But original texts with no changes to the language are widely available.

LOL!!!! That E36 M3 is HILARIOUS!
Money For Nothing and Romeo and Juliet are two test tracks I use any time I'm changing my home system around. Money for Nothing is incredible and when the bass drum kicks in it's amazing!! Romeo and Juliet is just a very well recorded track and is a great test of the musicality of speakers.
.....going to run my kids out of the living room for the next 10 minutes so the Celestions can SING.......

Wow...no idea on that until lnow; thank you.
My dad was a personal friend of Mark--they became close when Penske moved to AMC in 1970. I run the #6 on my autocross cars whenever possible as my little tribute to Mark.

A list CDN bands include Rush, Guess Who, The Band, etc. The B list isn't so bad -- I define it by people who are likely to play in my home town. And I forgot Chilliwack!
