So I had some blood work done last thursday because I had been feeling a little bit off lately and I had gain 25lbs in the last year. Dr. thought it could be my thyroid.
Well today the results came back that my thyroid is border line abnormal. Didn't say much to me about it other than to come back in two weeks for another round of blood test and if the numbers are the same we'll go from there.
Can anyone who has or has had an "abnormal" thyroid please tell me what to expect and how this will change my day to day life if it in fact will?
Thanks
Dan
Eat a synthroid pill every day until you die. Dosage varies greatly. Outside of that, nothing at least in my case. YMMV.

You're probably hypothyroid if you've gained weight. My fiancee is hypo and takes a pill for it daily. Other than that it doesn't affect too much of your life as long as you stay on the medicine and listen to your body. Go into the doctor if you feel something is wrong because you may need an adjusted dosage.
Is the synthroid pill expensive?

Sub $5/month for 30 pills.
Just a pill. You will feel great after you start taking it and will notice that something was wrong before. I pay $4 a month for the generic synthroid (levothyroxin) at Target.
There is only 3 things that go wrong with your thyroid gland- Hyperthyroidism, where it is over boosted, and makes you get hot and lose weight, and eventually causes your heart to enlarge, (I had that type, and took some sort of drug that killed off part of it to get me back to square) Hypothyroidism. which is under performing, and makes you cold and fat, treated with synthetic drugs as previously mentioned, and cancer. In that case, they kill it with radioactive iodine, and you self regulate with drugs for the rest of your life.
Fat and cold. Sounds like me
