Daufuskie people are a breed apart. Having met some of them out in public and dealt with them from a business standpoint, not so sure I'd want to live there without a quick escape. There's all kinds of restrictive covenants etc, like spitfirebill says.
I like to think I am an island unto myself but I'm no ferry.
Not being able to just go on a nice long ride in your car can be frustrating. The lack and ease of getting to a local store when you really want something. Feeling confined. Tourists. Island bums. Not sure how the islands are up that way. Down where I'm at it's an interesting mix. I love it but there are times I wish I was back on the mainland for certain things.
Pros: I get to ride my bike to work, there are no shortages of places to relax and enjoy the ocean, I can pop up a chair and a fishing pole and forget about everything else in life while sipping on some brews, and that should be enough pros right there.
