I used to have an iPod and liked it, and I got very used to iTunes and liked it. But now that I've become an Android person and have an S5 Active with 64gb worth of SD, I see no need to carry a separate iPod.
I'm looking for good software for organizing my music into playlists so I can load it onto the SD and access it easily on the phone.
Oh, and to clarify... Preferably looking for software on the computer side for the organization part. If the computer program organizes it into folders and playlists that I can simply drag to the SD card and use, great. If not, I prefer something that has an android app associated with it so that its easy.
I tried doing this all just with windows, but the creating shortcuts, dragging, and organization of the music is tough to navigate quickly.
Mediamonkey or Doubletwist. Both are free to download, so check them both out and see which one you like better.
sweet. I also found VLC which is in Beta and very glitchy but a possibility.
i've just got a bunch of cd's saved in a folder on my computer and i dump them onto a thumb drive for use in my truck.. if i wanted to put them on my phone, i'd just pretend my phone was the thumb drive and drag/drop them from the folder on the pc into a folder in the phone..
Second for Mediamonkey. You can rip to flac for lossless storage and transcode to whatever your phone supports. Autotags from internet and can add album art. Great playlist support and support for both apple and other devices

VLC on the desktop is my media player of choice, this is a good route if the mobile side can do the job.
I've said it before and I'll say it again...
Media Monkey. It is awesome.
I've been using it for years now, and it keeps getting better. My iPod Classic has never seen iTunes, other than for the first time I plugged it into my PC back in 2008 or so.
Not for files and downloads, but sumsung's milk music app is fantastic. I have 2 created stations on it and within 3-4 hours of adding artists, favoriting songs and skipping past anything that I'm not a huge fan of and it becomes gold.
