So I was telling my cousin I wanted to get the boys a go kart. I wanted one in good shape, but didn't want to buy new. He said that his boss had just what I wanted. I gave him a call and he said give him an hour he bring it by.

Long story short, it's an manco frame with a predator 212 motor swap. I THOUGHT it would be pretty slow for the kids. My fat butt rode it and it seemed pretty fast, but the throttle was sticking so I shut it down pretty fast. Today my cousin and I unhooked the throttle cable (it's frayed), and just reached around to throttle it. My cousin used his phone gps and did a top speed run, knocked out 42 mph and was still pulling. I checked his phone and watched him reset the top speed so I know that's what it did. I got to get this thing turned away down. Lol

I got some mods I'm going to do, like rip it apart for new paint and wheels and tires. Probably fab up a roll cage as well. I'll start a build log.

I definitely want to build myself a go cart now, try and hit 65 mph. I'll start on that after Christmas.

Something to keep in mind,  a lot of those kid carts top-speed are gear-ratio defined.       Might be better to change drive sprockets.

Sweet, we had a go cart as kids and it was a blast. Depending on the kid's ages you may want to tone it down a bit though.  My dad had a throttle stop and one of the neighbor's kids still drove it through a fence.  Good times.

Yeah, a gear change is going to be a must. These little motors are crazy. Tons of aftermarket support, cams, valve springs, and I believe stroker kits and pretty much everything in between. No bad for a little habor freight motor. Lol
