Like this, but couldn't there just be a variable in the subject line that inserts the screen name? 

So robot(at)grm "a new message from *John Welsh*" 

Instead of

Robot (at)frm "a new message from grm"

 

Maybe that would be too difficult, maybe not. Seems like an easy fix to someone that doesn't write email software.

Not trying to belabor this, but that's a bit of a problem too. 
 

It doesn't give usernames. It gives a person's real first name, and the first letter of their last name. 
 

I only know some people by their username, and some folks might prefer their real name wasn't given out.

Could the username post at the bottom of the body of the message like an email signature?  Would that meet the standards necessary?
