When you are a kid of the working poor, luck is all you have left.
I always saw it as if neither of the Otters had taken the chance on doing the unthinkable to achieve the impossible, than there would have been no steady job at Doc Hopper's.
Sometimes guts is all you need. Because sometimes guts is all you have.

I never liked Christmas stuff. Like ever.
But.
There were a bunch of weird movies that used to play on USA in the early 90s that were entertaining at the time and I'd kinda like to see again.
"Santa saves the martians" sticks out, but I know there were more.
Wasn't that Santa Claus Conquers The Martians? Unless there is a sequel I don't know about. SCCTM stars a very young Pia Zadora as one of the kids.
The Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special is really funny if you like the movies, with lots of nods to the movies and pop culture in general.
Has anyone mentioned A Very Murray Christmas? It was worth watching, but it really couldn't decide if it wanted to take itself seriously or not. It should have decided not to.

On the subject of Christmas movies, has anybody here seen Bernard And The Genie?
It's very English, very '80s, and stars Alan Cumming and Lenny Henry in a role that lets him be Lenny Henry with the dials at 11. But it's a funny and sweet story. Rowan Atkinson has a supporting role as the antagonist. We watch that and Emmett Otter every year when we get together as a family.

Dood! I totally forgot about the Guardians Special. Yeah, that's in my top 10.

I am kind of partial to the Simpson's Christmas Special that had Santa's Little Helper. (The dog)

Chased off by his owner for finishing last in a race and Homer and Bart take him home. (Awww.)
The only one that matters is A Charlie Brown Christmas. It's a little ironic that a show about the overcommercialization of Christmas is now only available on a streaming channel that charges admission - I don't think Charles Schulz would approve. (to give them a little credit, you can watch the show this weekend without having to sign up for Apple TV.)
Bobs Burgers always delivers with a good Christmas episode and "Father of the Bob" (Season 5, Episode 6) is probably my favorite so far followed by "Christmas in the Car" (Season 4, Episode 8).
A few years ago, we saw Emmet Otter in the theater–one night only. I’d go see it again.

The rumble channel I linked to earlier has Charlie Brown, too.

I forget about that one, but that has to be in the all time greats list. Great special with a meaningful message.
