Went to the drive in Monday night and watched Turbo.

I was psyched for a good Pixar/Toy Story type movie and was disappointed in just about the whole thing. Weak story line, graphics were good, but not of stuff that was interesting to watch. It did have it's moments, but wasn't in the same league as Toy Story or Cars.

I give it a 6.5.

Also on was Adam Sandler's new "Whatever it was 2".

I say whatever it was because we never saw the name of the movie and after watching it we didn't even have the desire to know what the name was.

I give it a 2. The only reason it got a 2 is for a couple of funny jokes. But only a couple.

It was the typical written by Adam, directed by Adam, starring Adam snooze fest. I'm not sure it had a story line, it was just a random set of scenes stitched together by an editor who earned every dollar he made to make the movie even this good.

Dreamworks movies have never done anything for me. My son dragged me to Turbo this last weekend, and again I was not impressed. I maybe laughed 3 times during the whole thing. This cartoon is pretty much spot on.

Edit: oh yeah not to mention all the corporate product placement in the thing. The only vehicles with recognizable shapes are GM, Verizon Wireless ads on the indy cars.. give me a berkeleying break.

Thank you for confirming my decision not to see Turbo.
Even worth netflixing when it streams in a few months?

Planes on the other hand, I'm pumped for.

I won't watch it again of my own free will, on netflix or not. Planes.. omg the previews look horrible to me, just another Disney merchandising movie. Lets see how many new Planes we can come up with so kids force their parents into buying every new diecast we can produce.

Oh, you mean just like in real life where the Indy cars have ads all over them?

That part didn't bother me

In reply to t25torx: hey now! I liked most of the Shrek and Madagascar sagas. ! Sure they were mostly low-brow, but quality low-brow.

I was expecting engaging characters like Shrek or Madagascar, but if you see the movie you'll understand. It was very 2 dimensional by comparison. There were no Minion standouts.

It's almost like IndyCar had part in the movie and had its partners featured in it. Oh, wait

Well, I don't have kids, and my nieces know not to expect stuff like that from Uncle Snow

Somehow, a movie about snails doesn't draw me in and make me want to go.

Not even "racing" snails.

Not even a cartoon about "racing" snails.

Did the snail win the big race?

I liked the Shrek movies. I also liked How To Train Your Dragon , despite always subconsciously reading "Train" as "Drain". But most of the rest of them are pretty much cack.

The only Pixar movie that was a bit disappointing was Cars 2. My younger daughter and I have gone to almost every animated movie out there- and shes 18 now. We argue, though. I think The Incredibles was their best, she prefers Shrek 2.

I'm going to go to Pixar someday and see if I can use high school pride to get us a good tour. One of the fairly big wheels there went to my high school and dated my niece...

count me in as enjoyed Kung Fu Panda. Jack black's personality seasoned with some Hoffman is a good recipe.

no desire to see turbo.

Recently I read somewheres on the web where someone had worked out that all the Pixar movies were related. They string together an interesting narrative. Though the movies haven't been released in chronological sequence in the narrative, the writer goes through a timeline and themes that are somewhat compelling, in a conspiracy-theory, creepy sort of way.

I don't want to spoil the ending for you so I won't say.

Find and post. I'd be interested in reading that.
