Yup, Henry Ford was a big fan of Hitler. Indisputable fact. So what if it was a long time ago? Does that somehow make it right?
The Ford Foundation may not currently have any 'ties other than the name' and if you believe that I got some nice bridges for my dirt pimp to show you. The fact remains that they do provide money to the Sierra Club and only recently have they started contributing to OHV advocacy groups. EDIT: Oops, strike that about OHV advocacy- a few groups approached them for education grants and were rebuffed. So we see which side THEY fall on.
While we are discussing this, here's another for you to mull over: http://media.ford.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=7423
Cliffs Notes version: a $5 million dollar donation by the Ford Motor Company Fund (NOT the Ford Foundation!) to the Audubon Society. Sounds good, right? Not so fast. The Audubon Society has been VERY active in anti OHV efforts (including 4x4 trucks!) and other initiatives to bar US taxpayers from public lands. Don't take my word for it, look it up. OBTW: The Ford Motor Company Fund is a current initiative, they even have a Facebook page.
I said it before and I'll say it again: the EPA has its place. That doesn't mean they don't get sorta ham handed. It also doesn't mean they are good or bad for business, it depends on your POV I guess. I'm not going to waste time looking for examples of both.
Go 'head on and tip off the Fibbies. I wish them luck looking through my life, most likely the agent(s) they send will die of boredom.
