I was wondering if anyone out there has an opinion of Fox Mustang Magazine? I've never seen a copy in person, and just wanted to see if it's worth plunking my $25 buck down for a subscription.

Hmm, I guess I haven't seen that one yet.

My feelings on MODEL specific magazines is that they are a good idea, if you own or are thinking of owning an example of that particular model car. I once picked up an issue of Miata magazine because I was considering buying a Miata at the time (and luckily it was their annual "tech" isue), but I didn't care enough for the mag to get a subscription....which is kind of a moot point since it's (apparently?) out of print. I like Mustangs and used to pick up whichever Mustang mag had a model on the cover or article inside that interested me...now I don't care all that much.

If $25 is for 12 issues, or even 6 issues, that's not too bad a price. I see a lot of Fox Mustangs for sale in my area on CL, just not sure I would want to own one. Most of the examples I've seen have too much of a "white trash" vibe to them.

Just as an FYI, the only current "single-car" magazines are Camaro Performers, Mustang Monthly, Corvette, etc. All of which cover decades upon decades of the same car. There is not a single magazine that serves just a single generation of car that still exists, ASFAIK.

I used to buy into the cool little-publisher magazines like that but ever since Japanese Nostalgic Car stole my money and disappeared, I'm done (see also Rotary Performers or something like that, and Classic Ford or something. Sigh).

Might depend on what you want to do with a Fox body. Most of the big-time manufacturers are probably done coming up with new and exciting go-fast parts for these cars since the S197 market is so big. On the other hand, there will probably be more and more restoration stuff coming out for these cars. So far the magazine looks more restoration oriented, and that's okay.

Well, if they cover stuff like this.....

BTW, a "stock" suspension drag build....

As a big Fox body fan, I've all but given up on Mustang magazines. I subscribed to MM&FF for years, and have a current subscription to 5.0 magazine. 5.0 has some great tech articles (that you can also read online), but their Fox body coverage is pretty much all drag-racing related. Don't get me wrong, I've gained an appreciation for drag racing through reading the magazine, but the open track/auto-x/budget build articles are few and far between.

With all that being said, I checked out the magazine and it seems like they have the right perspective. I'd probably be willing to give it a shot...

I get Mustang Monthly, and have in the past subscribed to other model-specific mags. I've experienced two problems with these types of mags. One is that they always "appear" to be underfunded, so articles often sound like blatant promotion of their advertiser's products, more so than other mags. And they don't do the in-depth tech articles, which tend to cost more.
Two is that they run out of things to write about, so you tend over time to get the same article content regurgitated.
I mostly use MM for the ads, so I can keep up on new products. But if I want tech on building a SBF, I get better info from Hot Rod.

I recently picked up another Fox 5.0 to make a daily driver out of. It's a 1988 GT 5 speed ragtop w/75k miles, bought from original owner for $1500. It needs paint and a top, as well as a few other things. I'm no stranger to the Fox, I bought three 5.0s brand new back in the day, and I've owned a few more in in years past.

Personally, when it comes to mags, my favorite parts are the feature cars. I like to see what others have built and what direction they've gone in.

I guess I'll give this mag a try.
