Well, they followed their formula, but they continue to execute it well.

I think the Bentley and the Focus were used cars. There's a few shots of the instrument panels where you can see the odometers. The Focus had like 44k KM on it. It also had the older MyFordTouch infotainment, so I'd guess it was a 2016.

The Bentley was awesome.  I would daily it.  Caterham was not too surprising, basically a sand (mud?) rail.

The wife and I were having great laughs at the little wheels exploding off the tracks.  Not a glowing endorsement for those items.

The tracks are made by a company in NW Minnesota: https://www.mattracks.co  It seemed they were really abusing them (and I suspect they may have embellished their failures a little.)

Now, when does episode 3 come out?

Given how long it took for this one to come out, I'd say sometime in 2023....

1 episode (Scotland adventure) has already been completed for season 5 comes that supposedly comes out in sometime in 2021 (spring is my guess) with another one in the works for end of 2021.

I was playing Gran Turismo 4 with my 4 year old nephew this morning. He saw the Caterham option and said "can you drive that offroad?"

Thank you Grand Tour for providing the answer and just the sort of pictures a 4 year old appreciates.

I remember reading something beginning of this year or maybe last year, they were already cutting way back on shows.  Like a few (2-3-4) "specials" vs the weekly episodes.  Now I've seen articles saying even less.  I'll be surprised if we get 2 more anythings.  They aren't getting any younger, and they're all doing other shows making $$.

Opened the IT manual to page one, unplugged everything and plugged it back in.  Error message went away and I got to watch it.

Still funny, even if it was more of their same old shtick.

And I want a Caterham more now than ever.

The Bentley at least was a test mule, which explains the odometer.

Sadly, because it was a test mule, I've read that it has to be scrapped despite how much Jeremy enjoyed driving it around home.

I think this one worked because the actual challenge was hard. Sure, the cars were cartoons, but they really did have to dig deep to get through. The best specials are the ones where the boys are pushed, not where they're screwing with each other and putting cows on the car. I mean, Vietnam worked despite that behavior but it's what makes Bolivia and the Arctic specials so good.

Did anyone else catch the absolutely crazy looking camera vehicle on the ferry? Some sort of side by side with a boom camera hanging off the back?

I was amazed that kill switch didnt get lost in a mud puddle after both Clarkson and Hammond told him "mustn't lose that"

I do wonder just how much "code cracking" the producers made May do. I know the daqueries were purchased, probably at the white hotel like building in the background of one of the shots, but I always have to wonder just how much their fixers do for them

I watched it last night, it was pretty amusing. I kept thinking that if the Caterham got through that, imagine what a an old VW rail buggy is capable of!

The MFB was awesome. If I had FU money I'd do that to a brand new Bentley and daily the heck out of it.

The drag race on the ring road was cool, but just because the ring road was so impressive.

I enjoyed the self-referential humor. It's obvious they know exactly where the show and their careers with it sit. Also the EU references were amusingly pointed.

the camera side by side would be a real story. That thing must have taken the mother of all beatings.

the camera car was cool. I think the Mongolia episode for me is still their best.

Always enjoy watching these, a bit far fetched as to what they come up with but comical.  Sucks it takes so long for them to come out, they will be on modified scooters before you know it.

Mobility scooters was a 2012 episode of Top Gear :)

Camera rig. Who would have loved to get the request to build this for the show?

The Mongolia episode, and the episode after that one (Funeral for a Ford) are in the top-20 if not top-10 episodes for me, including their Top Gear days. And they were only 3 and 4 episodes ago. And I've enjoyed both of the episodes this "season" as well. They may be, as Curtis aid, getting further and further from their glory days, but they still are putting good tv out, and some of it is spectacular.

Bolivia is one of my personal favorites along with the north pole. Mostly because they are doing truly hard things and they realize just how hard as they go.

My buddy works in engineering at Polaris. He doesn't have a lot of good things to say about those tracks.  He says they are unrelaiable and has chains on his ranger for snow plow use.  However, he also says those who do pipeline or utility work in the boonies really like them when working in swamps or bogs.

Watched it

Was good, classic TG/GT stuff, but it's a one time watch for me. Not as good, to me, as Bolivia or even Vietnam special

Or what about the truck special they did a few years ago? I thougth that was a really good one too
