Someday, I hope all of us have the day off like many of us do. Worth taking a day and remembering how serious this day is.

We celebrate the veterans (Friday) and our current Military (May), our workers (Sept)- it's time we celebrate what makes America really great- that we can vote. This should be a national holiday. And I'd keep it on Tuesday- just so that it can't turn into a long weekend away.

What's the deal with thanking pole workers? Do you stuff a dollar in their underwear like at other poles?

If that's the case, then I may volunteer to work the pole. Do you think they have an amateur hour?

Only if they start serving booze at my town hall.

I voted back in October. It was awesome, no lines!

Dude, there was a projected winner months ago. Won't stop me from throwing my vote away by following my conscience, though!

Once I took a day off to work the primary. In Will County, Illinois you got paid $135 to be an election judge - it was a 5am to 9pm day since I had to deliver the ballots to Joliet.

It was interesting asking people to declare their party and it was a long day but a fun day.

I think this is why we don't get early voting in Michigan because so many people here get the day off to vote. Didn't go first thing to avoid the 'on the way to work' voters. Leaving to vote now with my cheat sheet filled out from my 'League of Women Voters' voter guide. They are someone else who need thanking. The people who create those guides all they way down the ballot. It must be a hell of an undertaking.

We had early voting for the first time in Minnesota so I did it a couple days ago, figuring I'd beat the rush. No such luck, the line was a mile long and it took an hour. If that's any sign, voter turnout is going to be really heavy.
