Phone rang at 4:00 this morning. Never a good sign. Wife's best friend had taken a bad fall while dancing at a local club. DOA at the hospital. Apparently traumatic brain injury. She was only 45yo. Wife is a mess now. That is all I can say now. I liked her a lot too. Too young, dammit.

I feel for your wife, but she shouldn't feel for her friend. Her friend went out suddenly doing something that she loves, not many of us are so lucky. Life is short, going out living it to the fullest doing what you're passionate about is going out on top.

In reply to captdownshift: Yeah, she went out doing what she loved to do, with her son there. I hope I am so lucky. Her son is a writer and posted a beautiful eulogy on line that made me bawl like a baby. She will be missed by a lot of people. Gonna go hug my honey now.

Such an unusual way to lose one's life at such a YOUNG age. Heartfelt condolences to you all. This puts me in a more appreciative frame of mind. I have some thinking to do.....

Got a call from her son this morning. Apparently she died from a brain aneurism. Doctors told him she was probably dead before she hit the floor. I guess that's not a bad way to go. No suffering, no long agony for the family.

Sorry for your loss. That's way too young to go.

Thought of these kind of circumstances too much lately. 40-something stroke victims in the same care home as my 87 y/o mother, they will likely never leave or have the same quality of life again.

If anything, it should remind us to enjoy life more w/ the people that matter and we love. Get out of that routine or rut, live a little more.
