Yeah, if you got the means, bail.
I'll say the most cliché thing ever....but there is something better. I'm old, SWMBO and I have been very poor with no job with a tiny baby (that now easy beats me autocrossing) But things work out. Hang in there man.
I'm patiently awaiting the job posting for a professional autocrosser and hack AMC mechanic that pays $100K a year.

gotta love career change day. I am in that process myself.
Jav, if you don't like the area you live, why are you applying for jobs there? Being unemployed is a great time to relocate.

This, 100%. I left a management job 3-ish years ago making $50k+ a year that was hell for a job making $12 an hour to deliver food to convention rooms and clean dishes. Best decision I ever made. In the middle of last year, I worked at a boring office job I hated where I could've expanded into the company my dad's worked for 25 years and made triple digits pretty easily when I finished my degree. I bailed to work at Lowe's, second best decision I ever made. I love it here and make decent enough money to get me by until I'm done with school. I don't even feel like it's 'work' or a 'job' but instead I get paid to hang out at Lowe's and assist people in hacking up their plumbing.
I just found out about an hour ago that I am getting das boot from my position due to restructuring..
