My great uncle passed away. One of the coolest dudes I ever met. He had polio as a teen, and couldn't walk real well. Despite that, he was a superb mechanic, salesman, and drag racer. Nothing the guy couldn't fix. He always said, have as much fun as you can get away with. Just an awesome guy all around. I'm really going to miss him.
He spent about 10 years building his last daily driver, probably finished it 20 years ago:
Check out the pinstriping:
This is what it looked like when he started:
Have you ever seen a cooler looking hearse?
This was the project he was working on at the time of his passing. His grandson, my second cousin, is going to be finishing it:
And some never got started:
This was at the funeral and luncheon. Some of his friends had a little carshow at the luncheon in his honor. I unfortunately did not get any pictures of the Duster, Maverick, or the Corvette.
Hauled in his own...very cool!
Good stuff, looks like his legacy will live on
My condolences. That's a really cool way to be celebrated.
Sorry for your loss. Sounds like a cool guy.
If he was a 472 Cadillac man then he was a good one. I'll drink one in his honor tonight. I don't recognize the truck but any chance he was on the big block Cadillac boards?

Almost 0 chance. I am not even sure if he ever used a computer.
Going out ratchet strapped in the back of your truck is doing it right. Glad folks were able to celebrate his life.

Your uncle sounds like the kind of guy we all would have liked to meet. Condolences to yourself and the family and thanks for sharing this.
