There is a restaurant on the PA/OH border which has Bobby Kennedy's campaign train car with Bobby's signature on the one door frame. They've been trying to give it away for FREE for 20 years or more.
The problem is, it's over weight, over height, over length, and over width for the road, so you need about $12k in permits, police escort, pilot and trail cars, pay to close two lane roads, contract a trucking company, hire a transportation engineer to sign off on it, crane rental....
I looked into it as a guest house at my Pittsburgh property. Moving it 40 miles would have cost $41,000 in the early 2000s.
As of a few years ago, that free train car was still sitting where it was. Maybe still is.
I would LOVE a train car. Can't afford to move it.
I also get a kick out of all the people selling mobile home trailer frames that say "no cutting on the property." As if someone is going to pay thousands to transport a 12' wide trailer in one piece.
