When I read that it was trying to get across the USA I was wondering how far it would make it. Still, not impressed...
Oh, to be a forever misunderstood Philadelphian...
I heard about this and really was not surprised at all, in fact I actually chuckled. The real prankster here is whoever actually brought it through Philly in the first place; they had to have known what the end result would be.
It is an interesting idea and I applaud the team in trying an experimental sociology / technology / art project. I've been around the world and all I can say is that Philly is a great city, but it sure is pretty damn tough too.

So I'm from Philadelphia. I don't know wether to agree with you or tell you I just stole your wallet and got your mom pregnant.

^^^ This; pretty much says it all ^^^
History says my family came into the country in the late 1600s and from there they went north and south. We were the southern branch. One relative was the first child born in Philly and was given a block. So the story said.
I once worked for a company whose HQ was across the street from the Liberty Bell. The way they treated a whole bunch of us in late 1985, I wouldn't care if the place burned down. Yea, I'm still that bitter.
Me and my boss were eating lunch one day when we saw a news segment about Hitchbot on TV when it was travelling through Canada. We were debating whether it'd be vandalized or detonated by the bomb squad first if it were travelling through the US.
WPVI (6 ABC) just reported hitchBot's body was found in Old City, it's head was torn off and missing. Arms and legs were ripped off but found near the body that was in a pile of leaves.
For those not familiar with the area, this is the section of the city with Independence Hall.
Lesson learned is don't hitchhike in Philly or your headless torso might be found in a pile of leaves in Old City. However there isn't a warning about this on the Old City District Page
It's possible, that somewhere in the lost pages of history, William Penn's handwriting was hard to read. That the city was supposed to be Philantára, City of Brotherly Mayhem.
i find it hard to care about a Canadian robot when a lion was shot in Africa and somewhere out there people are still arguing over the color of a dress..
I think we should be applauding the people of Philadelphia for recognizing the threat and eliminating it.

Yea, it was probably the most advanced recon drone Canada could muster.....probably was powered by maple syrup.
In all seriousness, considering its Philly, it was probably hitching a ride in a car that got car jacked.
I've been to Philly. This does not surprise me. Maybe if the robot started out in Watts or Compton, it would have..., well, maybe not.
This would make great episode of " It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia"
Just picture the gang dumping his body and walking away in the closing shot.....
