This is the worst thunderstorm I've seen in Ann Arbor in ages! Lightning striking every few minutes somewhere near by and the sky is lit up constantly! Wow.

Ours started here around 10:00PM Chicago time. Still going on now, although not quite as violent, at 12:35.
we get those about once a week.. you are probably getting the storms that rolled thru here last night about this time. lots of rain, 70mph wind gusts (up to 100+mph reported), lots of thunder and lightning.. good times.
Woke me up.
They are saying that one of the roads around the old home of C&D is covered in 3 feet of water this morning.... oops.
Yeah, woke me up too. That happens when you are nearly shaken out of bed by thunder! It was quite amazing. I love a good thunderstorm but this one could have waited a few hours so I could have slept. I'm not complaining though, we needed the rain for the yellow grass.
The last big thunderstorm to go through here, couple days ago--late in the hot, humid day, pop-up type, blew the snug-fitting car cover off, the mildly tightly scured second cover under the top car cover off. Being a convertible, with the top not secured to the top of the windshiled (I was in a rush...my bad) some water got in, and I spent about an hour and half removing the carpet, drying the no-rust floor pans, and letting it air out.
In the years I've owned it, no other storm has ever done that. Including Nor-easters with close to hurricane force winds, down pours, etc..
It seems the storms this year are more extreme--winter and summer--than they have ever been before.
I love waking up from a deep sleep to thunder so loud that your adrenaline starts flowing on its own. Nothing like it.
First time I've had a Miata with a torsen out in the rain, though. Bald all-season junk tires, rain, torsen and a couple roundabouts...what else can you ask for on your commute?

Rain, thunderstorms, lightning? I've heard those terms but I don't know what they mean. Could someone please explain.
I don't think we got it. Either that, or I slept through it. It's a little damp outside, but that's it.

Yeah, we get rain here and you don't. But in only takes three years for a car to get THAT rusty in Michigan....and you'd still see it on the road with a bungee cord holding the bumpers on.
big thunder @ 2:45AM followed immediately by the motion-sensing alarm horns on about 6 of my neighbors' cars going off. i was asleep again by 2:52.
We could use some rain but I don't want a thunderstorm like we got a couple weeks ago. 3.5" of rain in 45 minutes. My plastic splash blocks under the downspouts floated two feet out in the yard. So much rain that the storm drains couldn't handle it and the water in the street in front of the house was up over the curb from side to side.

You see right where the TX is? That's where I live. COME ON BABY!!!!!!!
unfortunately the Strizzo-cast (not to be confused with any kind of expertise) says it will go a bit more east, possibly as far as almost galveston island, and you might not get much from it if that happens. it has been east of the predicted track at 7am, they adjusted at 10am, and it is again east of predicted in the 1pm intermediate advisory. historical track has had it making a gradual turn to the right as well. unless something changes in the next 12h i think this will come more towards houston than austin

From July 28, 2011
The 3 feet was measured at my house... two of the several cars that were destroyed were my Volkswagen Jetta GLI and my Dodge Grand Caravan.
Anyone have a couple good $3000-$5000 reliable commuters?
