I am looking at the BRE 510 sitting on my shelf here at my office. Do I sell it now or hang on to it and pretend I didn't see this thread.
If your luck is like mine and you keep it, the value will tank. If you sell, the value will climb for the next 20 years.

You read my mind, that is exactly how it will play out.

Holy crap! I have one too! Any idea why they are worth so much?
They apparently stopped production early on the second series of Vintage Racing and this is one of the last cars. I don't get it though, Johnny Lightning, Greenlight, and Tomica all make a version of it that's nicer and they go for like $20.
So that means i can sell mine loose one and still get another to replace it and still be WAY ahead. Well, on this car at least.

FWIW, there are some way cheaper BRE 510’s on there. Apparently it needs to be the “Vintage Racing” one to get the big bucks.
Well, I put it on eBay, we will see what happens.

Because John Morton is the King Cat Daddy of small bore racing
The RLC version of the 510 trades for even more.

That’s what I was thinking. The odds of the average grmer having a 510 hotwheels is pretty good...

Mine is up to $50 in less than 24 hours. If it stays there that is still way more than I would have thought possible.

I sold one in the spring for $535 shipped, haha. When they were new I bought and traded for as many as I could. Have one left, sold a candy striper at the same time and it funded the work on the Mercedes in my build thread. The Vintage Racing ones hung everywhere when they came out and I was buying six at a pop on close out since It was the end of the set, good investment.
My loose one sold for $190, assuming the guy actually pays.
The 510 is a big ticket item right now and the BRE is The 510 to have... I have a bunch of 510 HW but not the BRE... oh well.
There was a rack of Hot Wheels at the grocery store checkout counter today, on sale for $1.25 each. I grabbed two Mazda REPU rotary pickups, even if their value doesn't skyrocket they're cool to have.

This thread blows my mind! Great job guys!
In reply to stuart in mn :
That's a true collector in my opinion. Buying something because the object itself satisfies not because of speculation of increasing value.
I got $300 for mine. Still have my loose one. I also bought the REPU!
We’re trying to get all the 240z’s as we hit the stores. I’m not buying any other cars.
A few years back i sold 300 camaros for $350 or basically less than i paid

I have a bunch of the 240Z's including spares. Which ones do you have/which ones do you need? I'm pretty sure I even have a Treasure Hunt one.

Thanks for the heads up on this. If you ever make it to Ohio I owe you a beverage.
Guy finally paid, I was getting worried. I look at it this way, that one car paid for all of the other ones I have in my office, and I can still replace the 510 with one of the less crazy priced ones at some point.
