You learn something new all the time! And not just that you shouldn't mention pitbulls on this forum...
You know how they always tell you to disconnect your battery? Especially before removing a starter? Here is what happens when your wrench touches the ring which then touches the engine block:
After about three weeks it's feeling pretty good.

saw that on G+ or facespace... OUCH
did ya have to cut the ring to get it off?... either way... good reminder
And my wife gets mad at me for not wearing my wedding ring.
Ouch!
That sucks, but I have to say I like it when other people learn these painful lessons for me.
Just tell your wife you loved her so much you tried to weld your wedding ring on.
I've heard about that happening. It was enough to make me take notice. Now that I've seen it, I'll be even more sure to disconnect it.
Thanks for hurting yourself for us.
K. I admit it. I've done it too. We sure are learning a lot this week!
Funny thing... It's not even my wedding ring! And I pulled it off as soon as it was cool enough to touch with my other hand. It should leave an awesome scar.

Yikes! I did something very similar and ended up blowing the main relay on my MX3. No impressive scar though.
One of the reasons I don't wear any jewelry. Broke SWMBO of wanting to get me a ring when I asked a friend of my dads to hold out his hand. She saw the stub of the ring finger and never bothered me about rings or jewelry since. And I have a daughter that is a jeweler too.

I know that if you palce a metal insert from a wiper blade across battery terminals it glows red very quick. It also melts a plexiglass counter top nicely when you flick it off the battery.

I am failing to make the connection here.

I knew a guy who drove dump trucks. When he first got married, he joked about how the wedding ring used to snag on the grab bar on the side of the truck when he was climbing out.
Now he has nine fingers and no wedding ring.

In reply to poopshovel:
I saw a guy loose his finger jumping out of a trailer. His ring got caught between the door and the body and when he jumped it popped off. He stayed pretty calm but the guy it hit passed out
It'll be a pretty badass scar, but I already have a nice collection going on my face. Soda can, radio scanner, rifle scope, cat claws, and maybe a few other odds and ends.
Work time comes, the ring comes off.
My father was 20 years Navy. Get on the ship, ring goes in the locker, go out to sea, ring stayed home. Meeting people with scars like that around their wrist is why he will never wear metal watch bands.
I just tried, I can't get my wedding ring off. It's been years since I've had it off, I guess my fingers have gotten fatter.

I live by this bit of wisdom.
Also, for you guys like me with a Tungsten band...
If anything bad happens, they can't cut it off like a normal wedding band.
When I'm at work, my ring is on a caribiner on my keychain.

While it can't be cut, it can be removed in case of emergency.

That happened to a friend of mine a long time ago, he got his ring stuck between the battery + post and the battery box on an MGB. Nearly lost his finger, had a nasty scar. When I finally got hitched I told the wife that tale and she agreed, didn't want me to roast my finger. I would take it off and put it on my key ring.
BTDT. Hurt like a mofo. What's odd is I didn't feel a shock, just the burning.
1 reason I dont wear jewelry is that I work with my hands nearly every day.
I wear nice watches when I go out, other than that, nothin.
No ring stories, but when I was a teenager I spot welded a wrench to the fender of my car when it accidentally touched against the positive battery terminal.
