You people want some pie? I'm thinking chocolate pudding pie in a kebbler crust.
As a white, middle class, christian male, the first time a person from a different ethnicity said to me "you people", I smiled.
He was wondering why 'us people' do the 'ozzy'/devil horns hand gesture while rocking out. I told him it was to show our enthusiasm and encourage the people around us to have a good time.
I spent a year working in a tire warehouse on Fulton Industrial Blvd, rolling tires. I called it my Cultural Exchange Program. Upon my first day my name was immediately deemed "Cornflake" and it stuck. While we worked they shouted "your girl's so...." jokes all day, and eventually they hit me with one. I fired right back with a stinger and the response was this:
Instant. Respect.
Tons of fun, learned a lot (I can do the Bankhead Bounce), and we swapped some tapes (I left Ozzy, they gave me Bone Thugs).

Proper pronunciation: 'yawl'.
EDIT: A few years ago I had a warranty administrator and shop foreman who were both black. We got along great, one day I walked in the office and the shop foreman called me by the name of another (white) service advisor. I looked at him and said 'So we all look alike to you, is that it?' and I thought they were both going to fall out of the chairs, they were laughing so hard.
If this is all that people have to bitch, moan and cry about? We're doing a lot better than I thought.
Really? This is even a topic of discussion? What is wrong with YOU PEOPLE. Get the hell off the couch and go outside for berkeleys sake.
what bob said.......I love them trying to put the racist card on that, as peurto rico is pretty much a complete melting pot of races and cultures. Chances are "you people" was used as a name to put on their cultural identity.
My Vote, not a slur......you people should never be considered a slur.
I always thought that referring to a black person as likable because they were "Clean," "Light-skinned, and had no 'Negro-dialect' unless they wanted to" might be considered mildly offensive, especially coming from a rich white jew, but as long as there's a "D" next to that name, apparently it's totally acceptable.
"THEY GONNA PUT YA'LL BACK IN CHAAAAAAINS!"

Can't find a source for that, and I'm sure if Biden actually said those words it would have ignited a E36 M3storm of cosmic proportions that would have eclipsed Akin's comments. I will be genuinely shocked and disgusted if this is true.

That description actually hails from our paragon of Senate virtue, Harry Reid (D). Oh yeah, he's also a Mormon who amassed great wealth while in office. But, it's all OK.
Harry was a pugilist in his younger years; shoulda worn head gear to minimize brain damage.
The thread is a berkeleying flounder. Don't pretend like it isn't. And the same people that claim they're "O-FFEEENNDED" by the words "You people" are full of E36 M3.
Do you think I don't want to post a new thread every time Biden says some dumb E36 M3 like "THEY'RE GONNA PUT YA'LL (speaking to a predominately black crowd) BACK IN CHAAAAINS." ? Of course I do, but I haven't done that E36 M3 in a long time, because I know how it's going to end.
The lefties on the board are lefties. The righties on the board are righties, and that's not likely to change any time soon.

To be fair, they did E36 M3 all over the VP for saying that too (as they should)

Actually, you're right there.. it is.

This is true. People jumped to their normal sides on the issue.
You people make me MAAAADDDD! This is IMPORTANT!!!!!
Seriously, the amount of angst folks are devoting to this thread reminds me of driving a minivan full of preschoolers around and listening to their chatter. No one should actually CARE what Charmander evolves into.

I hate myself for getting that reference.
I probably shouldn't get red-faced and bang my head against the steering wheel when someone won't get the berkeley out of the fast lane either, but I do. Would you love me any other way?
