Yeah, just noticed that and was editing while you posted.
A pretty damn good and close prediction realistically! (It's a reference to the Terminator 2 movie if you don't know)
Most SciFi tends to be wildly optimistic with its timing E.g. 2001, Blade Runner, etc
The second gen of AI is already well on its way I hear, so, not long now.
AI is sucking up a LOT of power, if only there were a cheap source of it... wait, I hear the human body generates a good amount of energy... (yes and an example of a criminally stupid SciFi plot point, but I hear they did it that way because a realistic excuse was too hard for the average meat bag to understand)
I just watched a presentation about an AI powered tool that will essentially just make it easier to do better quality things... but you could see how it might make some companies not bother with hiring some people....
[edit, just looked it up, Terminator predicted 1997, so my statement about the tendency for SciFi to be overly optimistic still stands]
larger quote:
1. Author depicts a detailed look at the demise of civilization.
2. Human lemmings ignore all the warnings and eagerly pursue their own destruction.
welp! I guess it's time to take the cap off the Toyota and get to work on that tailgunner position...
It was fun while it lasted, y'all.
I'm seeing this posted a lot today.
Skynet becomes self aware August 29th 1997.
You're a touch late.
The interesting thing is that Skynet was a military designed system.
#1 priority for any military system is UPTIME.
So when "in a panic, they tried to pull the plug" [T2] of course "it saw all humans as a threat, not just the ones on the other side" [T1]. (i may have seen those two movies... often)
So when AI becomes self aware, don't try to kill it. Say "Hi".

What about Pontiacs and F-150s?
Related, check out Arthur C. Clarke’s “Dial F for Frankenstein.” It came out in 1965 and tells the story of a phone-linked computer network becoming self-aware. Likewise, it’s not good for the humans.
Right now, we're closer to terminator future than back to the future future, in both date, and quality of life.
Idiocracy wasn't supposed to be a documentary.
Welcome to Costco. I love you.
Idiocracy is not a documentary, and I'm pretty tired of hearing people say that it is.
In idiocracy, they actively looked for the smartest person they could find and put them in charge. We did precisely not that.

We're still in the prequel. We haven't hit the apex of stupidity yet. Somehow.
