As a civilization WE have to decide what is, and more importantly what isn't civilized. Abuse, physical, or emotional is still abuse... Mr. Clarkson tends to abuse almost everyone... he is just a polished bully... and most of you support his antics....
Maybe another look @ just about any school shooting is required... If we allow Mr.Clarkson's bullying... then we must accept bullies in the rest of our society, and therefore more violence rather then less........
As to John Force... that would be a move outside the box.......
I was bullied constantly when I was a kid. I'm now friends with the one guy that bullied me verbally and physically the most. You can choose to be a victim or choose to rise above it.

Not everyone was/is as strong as you.....
AND.... you weren't bullied @ work, causing this very public international "fracas" with nearly a million people writing in supporting your bully.....

Believe me, I'm not that strong. To use that as an excuse is to play the victim. Please understand I'm talking about bullying, not abuse. There's a difference.

I disagree... there isn't a difference bullying = abuse plain and simple

I have heard it said that one of the problems with today's society is that people aren't afraid of getting punched in the nose! That lack of fear lets us say things that shouldn't be said, and is opens the door to cyber and other forms of verbal bullying. I'm not saying that punching someone else is right, but perhaps we should always act as if they might.
we need to make dueling legal again.... the threat of having to pose, or answer to a duel goes a looooong way towards "civility"...
It is one of the underlying reasons "we" have this democracy... and no one else does... ours was formed while dueling was a common accepted practice for settling disputes.... All this countries founding documents were written before dueling was outlawed, all the framers of these views still lived with dueling as a possible outcome of any actions they took......
edit - yeah, yeah... dueling legal.... my point was in direct reference to sofa kings comment, "people aren't afraid...." and should have included a "maybe"
Killing someone in a duel is okay, but bullying isn't. That pretty much illustrates the society we live in.
For what it's worth. I like Clarkson very much on the show, but I doubt that I would like him in person!
In reply to Sofa King:
I would agree, assuming he is in person like he is on TV. Not a given.

I could deal with that, there's plenty of British stereotypical jokes to use as rebuttals for the American ones to be able to win that verbal encounter. Worst case, just punch him in the face.

I'm starting to like you, Yamahammer.

In reply to bravenrace: Actually I think I would like him if he was like his TV character, but I'm guessing he isn't.

I love that the main point of the story is that they didn't have their millionth signature yet, and not that the person driving the tank, who they kept calling "The Stig" is so clearly not the actual Stig.

interesting that Clarkson is still allowed to do TopGear Live. Every person attending should allow him to punch them in the face
Also I suggest Kelly Clarkson as a replacement hose, or at least open their first show back with "since you've been gone" if it ever happens
In reply to Sofa King:
nah she can tuck if she'd like
What if this is all just a BBC social media ploy to get people riled up and passionate about Top Gear, and thus increase ratings/viewership?

Well, considering how completely screwed up it has been so far, I'd say that if it were true, it certainly would fall into their line of work: "Ambitious but rubbish."
