Roscoepcoletrain loves pet threads......
My dog Rex is a grumpy old man in a 50/50 husky/lab body, and black in a house with blue carpet, so there are no good pictures of him. Other than a few where it looks like he's about to tear my face off, but I don't have those.
I'm sure he was bitching up a storm when I took this a year or so ago. He's 7 or 8 now (cant remember) and has gotten a little whiter and grumpier since.
He also chases my sister's stupid black cat which I call "stupid cat", mainly because it made Kitler run away. I liked Kitler, pictured below.

Oohhh, that was bad.
Maddie has been with us a week. She is settling right in. They get let out of the kennel and walked. As soon as she comes back in the house, she makes a beeline for our bed so she can curl up with mom.
I can't imagine why either one of them were in the SPCA. They are two of the happiest dogs I know.
The dogs don't get along with the cats at the moment though.
Meet Jack,
And Gyro,
Nero, the stray I picked up, didn't stay around more than a couple of months. I guess he had a wandering soul.

He looks like he loves to be petted, too. I'd pet the hell out of that dog.

Dr Boost, that's an AWESOME pic! The cat has that 'OMG I have REALLY screwed up this time' look.
I had a gray tabby who was lord and master of all she surveyed, her accustomed spot was the top step at my front door. A nearby neighbor had a toy collie, the cat would merely watch as the dog walked past my place. Then one day the dog made the mistake of coming in the yard... The cat perked right up, watched the dog like a hawk and once in range the cat LEAPED on the dog's head, wrapped her front legs around its head and started biting. The dog shrieked (didn't know they could do that) and took off at a dead run out of sight. About ten minutes later the cat walks back in the yard switching her tail and resumed her spot on the porch steps. That dog would go across the street to stay away from my place.
Same cat would take a running start then leap onto the screen door and hang there till I opened the door. It made a helluva bang and would scare the E36 M3 out of me.
The screen door had a replaceable panel to make it a storm door, I swapped it out when it started turning cold but she didn't get the memo. She took her usual running start, leaped and the expression when she couldn't get traction was priceless. After that the cat bit me at least once a day for a week till she got over her mad.
In reply to Curmudgeon:
Fat Cat, my shop cat, did the same thing to my female German Shepherd on two different occasions to stop a fight. She just would not allow physical confrontation anywhere around her . . . unless she started it.
Incredible that once a cat takes that grip on a dog that size there's almost no way they can get it to turn them loose. When the Shepherd finally started dragging her head on the ground, the cat jumped off, leaped to the side, arched her back, fuzzed up her fur, and glared at the dog. Needless to say, the dog quickly got away from her.

The SPCA had one that looked just like those. I came very close to coming home with another cat. Beautiful!!
left to die on asphalt parking lot in 100 degree heat, 6 week old Ms. Alma could not stand, eat or drink, the vet said she would not live, 5 days of IV's and my wife squirting baby food down her, she slowly made her way back....and is now the Queen of all she surveys.......never once peed or pooped in the house, barks about once a month anytime you look at her you find her already looking at you right in the eye, never had a dog do that.

he's a big lap dog, my son is a dog trainer, he can make that dog do anything......and he loves Ms. Alma
This is dodger the wonder mutt. I caught him in a rare moment of not destroying everything in my house, or fighting with my six year old, or annoying the ever loving E36 M3 out of my wife.
Just helped return a lost dog to its rightful owner. It would have been a lot easier had the chip in the dog been registered to someone, let alone the owner. So, for those of you with chipped dogs, check up on that chip, make sure it's got your latest info, etc. Don't assume the breeder/shelter/whomever actually put in your info when you got the pooch.
Introducing Greybear (left front), Sylvester (left rear) and Rascal (right rear). Greybear was a stray who showed up at my MIL's and we inherited when she died. We got Sylvester from the local Animal Shelter when he was 3 months old. Rascal was a registered Maine Coon cat we got when he was 3 months old. We lost Rascal and Greybear last year when they were both 19 years old.
We decided that Sylvester who is 12 needed some company. So we got Tuffy (a stray who showed up at my SIL's house) who is ~3 months old. We have had Tuffy a month now so Sylvester is getting used him, but he is driving us nuts with his typical "kitten " antics. I got lucky to get this shot when both of them were worn out and napping.
here's Molly doing what she does best
back story, some acquaintances had 2 older dogs (this Chow mix [11yo] and a 13 yo Lab) .. they also had an infant child … Molly was starting to become extremely "protective" of the baby … to the point of lunging and growling at the Lab .. they were afraid that when the baby started crawling that it would get caught between the two dogs …so one had to go
we were looking for an older dog ..( my Mom is 89 and wouldn't be able to stand having a rambunctious puppy/any sort of hyper pup) Molly is very much of a home body and fits in perfectly here … makes Mom very happy to have a dog around again
