Alive and well from 1977 to current.

I have gotten back into Legos due to my nephew. Currently building whatever creator sets I find locally, but I have renewwed my search for the super car.

I HAVE the Lego Technic supercar! I built it with my dad when I was about 8 years old. It's in a box somewhere at home...hmmm...what's it worth to any of you? Some disassembly required

My Lego collection goes back to the early seventies. I still have most of the parts from my first Technic set. Two speed transmission!

I just turned my 5 year old onto the lego designer software. He now can use drop down tool boxes, change color pallets & rotate (and my printer is now out of ink). He's going to be a cad maniac.

I was lucky enough to get a few of these. They were my "big christmas present" for a few years. I still look for new ones occasionally.

I have the original Technic F1 car. Bought it with $180 of my own, hard-earned money from a paper route at the age of 15. Only Lego set that ever took me more than one day to finish. V10 and everything, working rack-and-pinion steering, and multi-link suspension with inboard shocks. A-mazing.

In '77 my parents bought my brother kit 854 aka the Go Kart, it was my brother's first LEGO set.

We still have it, although it has been well used. I still play with LEGOs, my living room currently has 20 or so sets assembled and a few others waiting assembly.

The new LEGO isn't great, LEGO was always about imagination and with modern pieces being very specific it takes away some of that engineering imagination. If you wanted to build a house with a slanted roof you didn't plot some specific piece on there, you built it.

I have wanted kit 8860, the original race car since they were first launched. It is one of the most sought after kits, one day I'll find a NIB one.

I'll have to see if I can find pictures of the dune buggy I built out of my 8860 "race car" kit then. Wow, I didn't know it was so desirable. But it sure is cool.

Yesterday evening I decided it was time to let my 3.5 year old son see the Lego set he would be inheriting. I had forgotten just how great a Technic collection I had as a kid, and had taken for granted.

I have almost all the parts to the following sets:

Yeah, I was apparently a spoiled child. But I spent HOURS upon HOURS in our living room building things. Probably the best toy I ever had.

okay, I had the pneumatics, had the motorized set, had some of the light and sound sets...and a metric ton of non-technics sets. Lots of space stuff and lego city kits. it was what I DID before the radio control cars and later the real cars.

When I went off to college I left a steamer trunk full of loose parts at my mom's house. Later when her relationship split up, they got left in the storage shed. I never even got a chance to go back for them.

Looking at the new kits, I dislike all the custom parts, but man the Technics kits are still rockin. One day If I quit some of my other hobbies I may have to build some again.

I blame Lego technics for my gearheadedness today. I had a metric butt ton (slightly more than an SAE butt ton) of legos as a kid. Pneumatic, motorized, radio controlled, etc. I loved it. My favorite was a coast guard helicopter. That thing was sweet!
