Sure they do. If more than one gets built it will be a 2 theme month.

I dunno man, it looks pretty good to me!
Too much surface texture. And I'm not much into sanding.

Decals then clear. Lay it down and it will level out. Tamiya is your friend.
I'm finally posting an update on my February build, in the March thread, halfway through April. lol
Redid the paint, yellow first this time, then blue. I masked it both ways so the second color wouldn't be thicker from going over top of the first color. I'm not sure this was necessary in hindsight, but it didn't cause any problems really. The lines aren't perfect, but good enough for me. The yellow also still didn't cover perfectly after multiple coats on a gray primer, but again, good enough for me.
Now I can paint the window trim, insert the front and rear glass, slap that baby on the chassis, and do the decals.
In the meantime, still working on my hot rod projects, and also started like three other projects because I'm incapable of focusing. For example, I found a better way to paint yellow, which is to only do it on plastic that's molded yellow. This thing went together pretty fast despite tons of flash from the very old Revell tooling. Now I lost the exhaust though so I have to find that.
I already had two of this 34 Ford pickup kit, one is the recent re-release and one is from the 90s when Lindberg had the tooling. Then I found a built-up kit from the old AMT version with the dually wheels and I snapped that up. It was painted red but not very good so I decided to weather it up, which escalated into painting it a flat brown with a brush. It looks surprisingly decent from a foot away. (Or maybe I need new glasses.) I think I'm going to fill the stake bed with tires and display it flat-towing a dirt track Fairlane. And I lost the glass for the blue one and I need to find the 3rd one, trace its glass on some clear plastic, and make new glass for the blue one so that I can still use that glass for when I build the 3rd one. (Probably can't safely remove the glass from the brown one.)
This other 34 Ford Pickup is completely different from the others, but is Lindberg tooling that they owned before they bought the AMT tooling. I painted it and then realized it had holes for stuff that I didn't want to install like spotlights and a roll bar and a cloth roof, so I filled them in and painted it again. Then I realized I didn't do a very good job of filling them in smoothly, so I have to smooth that out and paint it again. I also had to sand the edges of the cab some more so again, needs repainted.
And I bought several other kits that I can't get started on yet because I'm totally confusing and overwhelming myself with all this. Including this one that comes bundled with a DOS computer game!
+1 for the Tamiya white primer.
You can make a couple of gentle passes with wet 1500 or higher sandpaper to level that little ridge between the colors. You can get a set of Micro Mesh sanding pads that go from 1500 to 12000 for 15 bucks on Amazon.
Slow and steady progress on the decals. Neither the aftermarket or kit decals look to exactly match the photos I've found, so I'm having to pick and choose from both sets to get the ones I want.

Looking good. I really like that blue and yellow scheme.
Note to self: no caffeine before installation of delicate decals. Ugh. One side, top, front and rear done.
I also learned the instruction wasn't complete in pointing out what needed painting. There are some black areas (vents and rocker) that should have been painted. Alas I had already begun decal install when I noticed these areas on the last page which was devoted to decal placement. Should have looked closer. Oh well. Soon as I'm done its onto that 1:20 scale car.
Done. Like, finally done. March has finally ended. Dont look Too closely at the decals. The rum and coke did me in.
Alright, this one's finally done. Two months late, but I'm okay with that. It's probably the most complex Nascar paint job I've ever successfully completed. (Which isn't saying much, to be fair.)
In reply to slowbird :
Fantastic work. Do you prefer to build NASCAR stuff? If yes do you want this? I'm never going to build it (as evidenced by me carrying it around for 35 years).
In reply to New York Nick :
I built that one when it was new as a kid! It would be cool to find a tractor to pull it and build both.
In reply to Saron81 :
I have that too, it is an AMT Midnight Express Pete 359, I got it at the same time as the Bill Elliott hauler. I know in real life they pulled that trailer with a Ford truck but that Pete is what I have.
In reply to New York Nick :
I'd love to have that hauler! I have a Ford Aeromax rig that would probably look pretty good in front of it. Send me a PM if you can.
