I ran across an interview with the visual effects supervisor.  He explains some of the issues.  He noted how the last episode was much better, but never got ot explain why.  He also talked about how he knew some of the presentation was not correct (e.g. the rockets) but said, the change was made for the purpose of story.  Yeah, that's just dumb. The excuse for no G model was that they could not take the time to change their full scale mock up plane (he could have changed all the other planes shown when flying though...).  They were seriously running out of time near the end though, so that added to it (the COVID issues added to that)

In general though, I would say it highlight how impressive some of the visual compositing is (at least on the ground).  Using FX for what they are best for. Adding to a scene, rather then being the scene.

It is funny how he specifically notes how the scenes with the Mustangs was directly based off of some flying video (he shows the source video) as the did have an actual Mustang to use (used in taxiing scene).  Amazingly, that is the horrible scene I talked about.  The tail wagging is not bad, but the drop.... wow.  I attached a gif I made of the bad part.

Here is an isolated version of the sequence (ouch):

Finally gotten around to watching The Bloody Hundredth which is the companion documentary for this TV series and it was really well done. Definitely want to see it after Masters of the Air as there are many spoilers...
