No.  The number is crazy low.  The average person spends $255 per year on toilet paper.  Anybody spending that little on a hobby isn't really hobbying.

I think that is the, er, rather a point. A lot of people are involved in the average but are not involved in hobbying, whether that's due to lack of interest or lack of funds.

You can spend more than that on cheap booze and cigarettes in a year. You can blow $255 in one night in a strip club. Then there is illegal drug use which is not cheap. 

It all comes down to what you consider to be a 'hobby'.
