Last minute business trip. I have one night. Where do I get ribs?
to do the Memphis experience, you need to do the Rendezvous but there are so many good BBQ restaurants in Memphis(I just got back from a long weekend at Tunica/Memphis seeing Robert Plant and Gabriel Iglesius in concert) Central, Interstate, Neeley's, Cozy Corner, The Commissary Just pull up to any place and get ready to put down some good food. Also go have drinks at the Peabody. YMMV
If you are having drinks at the Peabody you should time it to see the ducks marched out of the fountain and up the elevator. It is pretty neat to see. the peabody is right across the street from Rendezvous.
I was there on business, didn't get much chance to experience the local stuff. I went to a BBQ joint that was highly rated on Yelp, and then another... I found out I don't like dry rub BBQ. Who knew?
Then I went to Gus's Fried Chicken. I think it is a local chain, but don't know for sure. It was some really good fried chicken, and I'm picky about my fried chicken. Not the best fried chicken I've ever had, or even the best in Tennessee, but still really good.
The people I was visiting on business asked where I wanted to go for lunch. I told them, where would you go if I wasn't here today? What is the best place? They told me they weren't taking me there, it wasn't nice enough. I said "Great, lets go!" We ended up at a taco truck in the ghetto. It was really, really good. No idea what that one is called though.
Thanks for suggestions. I went to rendezvous and saw a car show on Beale street. The Peabody was cool. Nice town. Reminds me of a bit of Kansas City area where I spent some time as a youg kid.
