COOLEST. THING. EVAR.
Those con rods are adorable That thing would look good at the center a really badass R/C truck...
I've done a couple of steam engine kits. I haven't gotten to scratch building them yet, but it's on my bucket list. There is a stack of plans collected in my cabinets. The new shop will let me set up my machines right, so maybe I'll get around to it.
Wow. That little thing sounds mean too - watch the YouTube video if you haven't.
I wonder how much time he has in that thing. Reminds me a bit of the guy who built the Ferrari, just not as many years sunk into it.
I'm buddies with the guy who did that one, here's the build thread for it: PeeWee V4
and some other stuff the guy has/is working on:
Blown 1/5 scale V8
1/4 scale Bugatti Straight-8
1/5 scale V8
that's cool & all but like a lot of work for a noisy (leaking) paper weight. if it had a margarita blender on the back well then we'd have a winner :)

I love stuff like that, and have enormous respect for the builder, but I do not have the patience (or time) for something that complex (and I'd rather spend that time on race cars anyway).
In fact, some years back, I designed a whole series of "eZee" model steam engines that could be built in a few hours. I did these mostly to use in a short term (8 week) class I teach, but lots of others have built them just for fun. A friend of mine assigns one of these eZee engines in a intro class he teaches at MIT.
