Alright, I need help here and surely someone has had this issue before. In Outlook, you know how when you start to type in an email address on a new email, all of the email addresses you've used in the past that start the same way pop up and you can select the one you want simply by clicking on it or highlighting it and hitting enter? Well all of a sudden, that doesn't work on mine anymore. The addresses pop up but when I try to select them the address doesn't go into the "To" field. It simply disappears and I'm left with what I had already typed.
Anyone have a clue what has happened here?
Thanks,
Mark

Try pushing tab when the one you want pops up. I haven't seen them pop up then disappear, but I did loose several years of saved "pop ups" when they installed a new server at work awhile back. There was no way to recover them.
They don't disappear as in never to be seen again, the pop up just closes.
I tried the tab thing and that simply moves me down to the next field leaving me with the same issue of no address in the "To" field.
Hmmmmm........

Have you tried turning it off and on again?
Sorry, I got nothing else. I've had to clear that cache before because of bad addresses, but I've never had it behave that way. I think you might have found a weird one.
Ya, unfortunately I have. This is day 2 or 3 of the issue.
I did recently do the windows 8.1 upgrade. I wonder if that had anything to do with it. Typically I just ignore prompts to upgrade but I screwed up this time and hit "ok".
Sounds like a potential issue with your outlook profile. Might try creating a new mail profile in the control panel and see if the problem changes. If not, then you've got a bug in outlook that might require a repair to resolve, an uninstall/reinstall of Office or worst case, a complete wipe and rebuild of your OS.
You might be the first person to have this particular problem...try this:

I would try disabling and then enabling the autofill feature.
By default, this feature is turned on in Outlook. To turn on or off Auto-Complete List name suggestions, do the following:
Click the File tab.
Click Options.
Click Mail.
Under Send messages, select or clear the Use Auto-Complete List to suggest names when typing in the To, Cc and Bcc lines check box.
If that doesn't work, there is this, but I have not tried it myself, never had your issue.
Autofill file fix
your NKD file was either deleted or corrupted.
This is an example of Microsoft's built-in "auto frustrate" feature. Things randomly stop working or change function or disappear. It was introduced in Windows 95 and remains pretty popular in all MS products.
Repairing your profile is usually the fix for OUtlook issues.
Anybody on MS Office 2013 yet? Just upgraded to that at work. Very different and mostly not for the better.

You might try the Ctrl-K shortcut, where you type the first couple letters of the address you want, hit Ctrl-K and it brings up the addresses with that letter combo in it. Maybe that might help in the short term.
Thanks for everyone's input. To clarify, the addresses come up, but cannot be slected for some reason. I tried the recommendations here but it looks like I'm still having issues. I think a trip to the computer repair shop is in my future.
