You are now refusing to pay the $28 for a rabies booster because, "My dog is current on her rabies vaccine." We did not have that information when we took our dog to the vet. We were not going to take that chance.

berkeley you. Your dog attacked ours.

I am seriously considering filing a suit in Small Claims Court. I bet I've got more free and flexible time than her. Make her stand up in front of a judge and explain herself.

Not a horrible idea if it's worth it to you.

I mean.....it's $28 on top of several hundred right? At that point just pay and be happy Animal Control doesn't get involved or other more legal manners

Yeah. It's just asinine. Also makes it clear just how sorry she isn't an how seriously she does not take the situation.

(I suspect the reasoning behind her doing this is being indignant that, "How dare you assume that I'm the kind of person who doesn't keep my dog vaccinated!")

The trans controller for Colin has me really overwhelmed.

I have two options, as I see it.

- the MShift code, which runs on an MS GPIO. This would be great as it allows more correct trans control for the Subaru 4EAT.  But the project has been dead since 2018 and there is zero support.

- The MegaShift code, which runs on a Microsquirt.  This is a currently supported item, but it does not natively control the 4EAT.  They say it does but they call a Mitsubishi trans a "Subaru".

MegaShift can sort of operate the shift solenoids, but it won't control the low/reverse brake, which means no engine braking in 1st gear.  Running at high speed and in 1st gear with the engine idling is how you explode transmissions, as you end up with some internals spinning well past safe limits.  (AKA "never do a burnout with a Torqueflite in 1st gear")  It also precludes the ability to have a gear indicator on the dash, which I think is critical.

It'd be nice if MegaShift was as configurable as MShift was, so I could define what solenoids are commanded in what gear.

Edit: I *think* I may be able to set up a loop condition with the MS3Pro so that if the engine is below a certain MAP signal or the throttle is below a certain percent, and the trans gear is 1st, that the MS3Pro can engage the low/reverse brake.  Not sure.

I'm already going to need the MS3Pro to read the two VSS signals, because Subaru has one at the front output and one at the rear, and neither trans controller is set up for that.  The MS3Pro will have to read both, average them, and then send a speed signal via CAN to whatever trans controller gets used.  I *think* this is possible.

Thinking it through more. I would be perfectly willing to deal with that hassle if it would achieve what I want.

I want her to recognize that her dog is aggressive and dangerous and take that seriously. To take responsibility. To take steps to make things safe. But I don't think it would actually have that effect.

Best option I've actually come up with is to make people aware of the threat and to put pressure to publicly shame her. Talked to a neighbor, and we're thinking just making up signs and posting them at the top of the hill and in nearby yards that say, "Warning! Aggressive dog at [this address]. Be careful."

"You're just gonna throw that on the ground?"

I watch a woman sanitize a table at the Sam's Club cafe.

Its dirty, she says. I'll pick it up when I'm done. Huh? You didn't wash your hands afterwards. Now it's even dirtier.

"What's it to you? Why do you care?"

I inform her that I used to work at this very cafe...cleaning up after members. I'm still friends with most of the custodial staff. I care that they have to clean up after adults who should know better.

Public shaming should be more common.

Had two weeks off from work due to the holidays and some judicious use of PTO.

Finally get back to my E36 M3box apartment. Fridge died while I was out of town. Everything in it is spoiled and molded

Didn't do that when the hurricane came through.  Somehow decided to now.

Fridge is about 14-15 months old.

Mr_Asa,  Is that frig on a GFI outlet?   We are seeing a lot of "frig failures" that are not. on the Gulf Coast.  Lightening hits nearby and the GFI trips.  Homeowner is away on vacation.  Not pleasant.

We are now running an individual circuit just to frig outlet... without GFI breaker.

Also not that concerned with it.  I'm well past the point where I can legally break the lease.  So I'm going to, and I'm going to GTFO.

Need to find a place for short term in the area, then I'll move to Jacksonville or Tallahassee.

Biggest winter storm to hit our area (central KY, though it was supposed to hit essentially everywhere across the center of the country) in nearly a decade seems to be mostly through. Six or so inches of snow topped off by 1/2" or so of ice. We were as ready for it as we could be and of course as such for the most part were impacted by it very little- we've got enough food to not need to leave the house for another few days if necessary, our power hasn't even blinked (though I pretty much knew we weren't likely to have any issues since I spent an hour the day before it hit making sure I could start our generator in a few minutes if needed), and we haven't had any branches come down despite the ice.

Unfortunately, there was one casualty of the storm:

Frustratingly just minutes before The Dancer heard the center part collapse (the weigh broke the center pipe section) I was thinking that I should probably go our and try and clear some of the snow off the canopy. The good news is that it didn't appear to do any damage to the E46's top in the initial break and I took the rest of it down carefully to ensure that another break didn't do damage.

I suppose I can't complain too much- I got the canopy for a steal from an auction (and will be keeping my eye out for another for certain) and I got far more than my money's worth out of it over the last 3 years or so.

Some minor rants:

  • Why is Outlook able to back up so that my Calendar, Emails, etc. are all there ready to go when I log into a new computer... except my signature?
  • Why do I have to set OOO  messages like its the berkeleying stone age?  Let me mark the days I will be out on the calendar, set status to OOO, and set an away message all in the same function.
  • Why do I still get calls from people every day trying to buy my house?  The one I sold 4 months ago.
  • Why cant electronics *just work* (A)?  Xbox controllers have been wireless for just about 20 years.  Yet they havent figured out how to make them connect reliably?
  • Why cant electronics *just work* (B)?  The docking station on my dell laptop(s) works what... 80% of the time?  We moved away from port replicators... 8-10 years ago now?
  • Why cant electronics *just work* (C)?  Carplay is 10 years old... have they not figured it out yet?  Zoom wants me to login to join a call.  Both of my library audiobook apps will not launch a book from the car interface - only from the phone.  Etc.
  • Why cant electronics *just work* (D)?  I got the "something went wrong" error when I tried to post this.  So fitting.  laugh

I would love to have my guys repair your doors. However, I am going to need a little more information beyond an address.

The building in question is 115k square feet and 4 stores tall. At a guess there are 400 plus doors in there. I'm going to need specific locations so you don't have to pay my guys to wander around and check all of them to find the handful that are broken.

At a minimum, I'm going to need a contact and phone number so they can be shown the doors in question.

And no, we haven't discussed this project. I have been out of the office for the past couple of weeks. My email and voicemail telling you to contact the office for all services should have been a clue that I wasn't going to be checking everything while I was on vacation.

Some inconsiderate shiny happy person dumped like 5 gallons of fireplace ash in the neighborhood dumpster. Of course I found this out when I threw my few bags of bagged household trash in the dumpster and it all billowed out, all over me. Good thing I was in my work clothes and not my ratty chores clothes I had just changed out of angry.

I had a torn retina last year and Doc fixed it via a cryogenic procedure.

They numb it all so you'll feel NOTHING.

Once again, NOTHING.

Injured my foot, October 2023. Wasn't affecting me much, so I didn't get it worked up for 11 months, giving it lots of time to cause extensive damage.

Surgery was December 6, took off work until the 23. Was told, "we'll take it easy on you."

I should have known better. Day one wasn't too bad, had two days off for Christmas, then came back to three of the busiest days I've had in years. No other doctor on the schedule, so all on me.

Lucky for me, I learned years ago to assume that no one in management really cares. Keeps me from being disappointed.

Joint is pretty damaged, doc expects it to need another surgery to fuse the joint.
