It didn't work too bad considering. Yeah, the straps prevented it from scraping all the snow off the concrete but it got like 96% of it. It's a wet, heavy snow so it got too heavy to push. I had to clear a small section at a time. But then disaster struck literally a minute after I took the picture:

The end snapped off because it's hollow and made out of cast metal. This broom was $40 at Lowe's 🤬

$5 on Amazon will solve your problem. https://www.amazon.com/Carlisle-4528000-Flo-Pac-Galvanized-Handle/dp/B008QYLIMG

Hi Mr. C, this is Memorial Gardens, we just thought we'd make a call to update your account (we have burial plots).

OK

I see your wife is not listed on your account, would you like to add her?

OK

We charge $300 for that.

No you don't.

WTF? Do people just pay that?

Down here it's a gravy made with spicy breakfast sausage. Usually served over biscuits. Also very good on eggs or hashbrowns. It is very tasty. Also very bad for you.

I hate you Toyman. Now I'm going to be dreaming of spicy deer sausage gravy over biscuits for weeks until I can beg my brother for more deer sausage.

Physically, yes.  But it's certainly helps the mental side.

I think I know what I'm making for Saturday breakfast now.

Damn it now I'm going to be thinking about them as bukake biscuits for the rest of the weekend. I wish I hadn't opened this thread today to rant about moving something wrong and berkeleying up my back. Because instead it berkeleyed up biscuits and gravy for me

I do love me some biscuits and gravy.

But what you're seeing on the biscuit there is sausage gravy.  White gravy is just a roux to which you add some milk.  Sausage gravy adds - big surprise - sausage to the white gravy.  My wife insists on using bacon grease as the fat for the roux when she makes sausage gravy.  The resulting dish is absolutely delicious, but it takes on a somewhat off-putting brown color.  I think if she properly strained the fat before using it, the color would be a little more neutral, but I just shut up and fill my face.

In reply to wae :

I use bacon as the base for the roux for my shrimp and oyster brown. It's outstanding as well.

The shrimp version isn't terrible looking but the oyster version always comes out kind of gray. Tasty but not necessarily appealing to look at.

Served over a plate of grits, it's probably one of my favorite meals.

Satellite provider, who I've been giving money to for 25 years, didn't do what I asked, took money they weren't entitled to, told me I was wrong, then because online chat, told me they couldn't forward me to a supervisor. So I've been waiting on the phone over an hour.

I'm on a mission now

I don't know what you think cluttered is, but this ain't it.

This was my drive home last night:

Everyone was let go early, except for us. I knew it was going to be horrible since the drive in to work was horrible and that was in the afternoon.

The time on the dashcam is off by about 3 hours so it was about 6:30pm. I was supposed to stay until 10pm but said Berk it and took PTO. The part where the semi slid off the road was pure glazed ice.

The base was essentially closed today due to extremely dangerous road conditions. We were given the option to come in if we wanted to for some reason. I took another day of PTO rather than go to work for no reason.

1) You're missing out, and

2)  What's the point of bitching about bland things that are pretty much meant to accompany something else?

Biscuits have as much flavor as regular bread.

Is French food bland because it's served with baguettes?

Do you say Szechuan food is bland because it's served over white rice?

Is Italian food bland because it's served with pasta?

It's fine, you don't like biscuits for some reason; no one said you have to eat them.

But I really don't understand condemning all American food as bland based on a couple of sides you don't happen to like.  That's a real forest / trees view.

White gravy, as mentioned above, is a roux with milk in it.  It's also supposed to have enough black pepper and salt to have some flavor.

It's poverty food, and like many poverty foods, there is some nostalgia in it.  If you could afford it, you put sausage in it; if you were broke, maybe not this week.

Same with biscuits - baking powder is cheaper than yeast.  Maybe they're not for you, but I think they're delicious, and they're easy to make from scratch.

There's plenty of reasons to condemn American food. It's loaded with excess salt and sugar, a vast majority is ultra processed and loaded with refined garbage that is increasingly found to be horrible for you, chemical preservatives sweeteners and dyes that wreak havoc on developing minds are marketed directly at children. But blandness? Maybe in the Midwest where salt and mayo are spicy, but there are enough flavorful adulterants that American food isn't legally classified as food in the majority of the world that a lack of flavor really comes down to lack of cooking skill or personal choice for blandness.

Go where the suburban white people aren't. The hood, the city, the sticks, that's where you find good food.

Complains that "American food" is bland, complains that adding butter doesn't spice it up.

I'm no Alton Brown, but I'm not sure the food is the real root cause here...

I don't think the proliferation of corporate American restaurants is helping the perception. Being next door we see a lot of ads for some really bland looking food.
And I have to say, even the smallest towns here have some sort of ethnic presence, I've not noticed that nearly as much traveling  through the US.
