Regardless of brand, both solid state and spinning disks do fail. They are merely a portable way of moving data. My SSD suggestion is 2 sided: the Samsung drives are more reliable than a spinning disk. I don't know of any other brands of SSD with the track record of Samsung. source: http://www.pcworld.com/article/2856052/grueling-endurance-test-blows-away-ssd-durability-fears.html The other SSD advantage is that dropping it won't crash the platters.
