I am actually kind of wondering if they can have their EPA air conditioning service privileges revoked.  It has been a while since I got my 1234yf certification, but I am pretty sure they were very specific on how and why a system may be opened.

I would put money on the caps for the AC system being dirty and untouched.....

In reply to John Welsh :

If she wasn't an active member of a Toyota Tundra club with a lot of members buying the latest and greatest every other year, and from this dealer,  and friends with this guy, I wonder what they would have done.

Nothing. The answer is nothing. Anyone else would be screwed unless they knew how to apply pressure publicly enough to make it hurt business.

I'm pretty certain that there was a Highlander in for AC service, someone grabbed hers and started to pull down theAC then found out it was wrong car oclock. Instead of just filling they went hole hawg

it would be interesting to do a Data search  on all the work orders and see how many times they have pulled this BS before ,

She needs to say something about that after they fix her issues ,

Good Luck

It takes moments.

I've fired many Service writers and Techs for pulling that stuff.

She went in and met with the General Manager and Service Manager yesterday.  They profusely apologized and refunded her without any hesitation.  There was an empty service writer desk, unknown about mechanic.

Her friend walked her out and thanked her for not reporting it and acknowledged that it is a reportable office to state attorney general.  He further explained that it is not how they do business and they do not want to lose her business (7 cars herself, 5 Tundras via ex, every service by the book for over a decade.)

She is still looking for another dealer, or to at least only use the service advisor she had been working with for the last decade.

How about the tire that really wasn't needed?

I'd be even more pissed if the tire is then a mismatched brand.

My cynicism is that there were too many players involved in all this to think it's just one bad apple.

I think the outcome was OK , but  maybe they need to go thru the files and refund all the other AC service customers.

Just saying you are sorry is how we got away with stuff when we were a kid ,

Then you were sorry that you got caught ,  seems the same with this Dealership.
