Amazing. Very well done. And I say that as one who thinks the whole zombie thing is pretty well played out.
I would say the scene where he takes the time to blow up a balloon to cheer the baby up was the most powerful.

It was a logical step, he had to find a way to keep the baby quiet so his zombie self didn't hear it. That's why he had the rotting meat out in front to keep him moving forward at the end and there's that brief moment when he turns back as if looking for something. Zombiedad got a whiff of fresh baby but the rotting meat eventually overpowered it. He knew he had to set up ways to keep his zombie self from discovering the "package" it was carrying (rotting meat to lead, tied his own hands, balloon to quiet baby)
That was pretty neat. I really like how independent films are more character and story driven than, "Hey, look CGI!".
On a completely unrelated note, well slightly related since it's a low-budget, independent film, I recently watched a movie called "Primer" on Netflix.
A small group of friends who are engineers gather at the main character's house and work tirelessly at inventing something and wind up with a surprising, unexpected result. I figured I'd watch about 10-15 minutes of it then go to bed but I couldn't shut it off. I had to watch the whole thing.

I got the logical reasons. It was just him taking that last moment to play with his kid in the midst of everything.

I guess I'm cold and heartless, I didn't see it as him taking time to play with his kid as much as trying to find something that would work to quiet her. I like your approach better though :)

I think it was a bit of both. He needed to quiet her, but he also knew it was the last chance he would ever get to play with her and make her smile.

See I was looking at it the cold, cynical way JThw8 was too......probably one of the reasons I ended up with a minor in Philosophy.
I love how 2 or more people can watch/read/hear the EXACT same thing and pull such different meanings/interpretations from it.

I really like how you took that from the movie Beer Baron
