I've been curious about "smart" watches for awhile, being a geek and all. Had breakfast with some friends, and one had a Pebble watch, his wife had a Smartfit or something. They were showing me both & the options, and when I said I liked the idea of a smart watch but didn't need the fitness stuff, he highly recommended his Pebble.

Pretty sure I'm buying one today or tomorrow, depending on how interested I am in crowds (not a shopper). Best Buy has it for $80, and I've already found a carbon fiber vinyl overlay on Amazon...

Anyone else have one? It sounds pretty sweet, especially for $80 (regular watches I was looking at were more than that).

Not a bad deal, but to me smartwatches aren't useful enough to justify the hassle of charging, never mind the cost. The screen's just too small.

I look at smartwatches the way some people now look at watches in general - I already have a device in my pocket that can do the job.

My friend says his battery goes for a week before charging, and he does it at work in an hour or two. I wanted a new watch anyway, decided to give it a go. So far it's pretty fun.

I'm actually wearing my Pebble right now. I like it, but it isn't a full blown smart watch like the Apple or Android wear. It's best to think of it as a second screen for your phone. The battery does last about a week. It's very light to wear.

Like I said, I like mine but I knew what I was getting with one.

For $80 it was a no-brainer for me. $300 Smart watches? no thanks. Now I'm looking into the apps. I like the notifications, but I remember he said he could select one of a handful of canned responses to reply to texts without using his phone. Need to find that one at least.

I have one. Mostly to stop missing calls and know the time. The Misfit could be nice but I wear a Fitbit as well. Battery last 2to3 days for me. Probably because I have an app that drains battery. I like it and actually switched from an Andriod watch to it.

I would consider one if they are waterproof. This would allow me to keep my phone nice and safe in the cabin of my boat and I could still use it for navigation (on a very small screen) and stuff
