One hit wonders: HUM was and IS so berkeleying amazing. IMHO “Stars” was the goofiest song on that record, which was otherwise a berkeleying gem. I FINALLY took the time to learn this one a few weeks ago, and plan on playing it at sound-checks for the real headz. :)

I read an article that said Geffen was gearing up for this huge release for Galactic Cowboys next album when the world stopped and started spinning to Alternative. They are a little weird but Galactic Cowboys were fun to listen to.

I was also a big fan of King Missle's I Am A Sensitive Artist, though without the penis reference, it didn't get as much airplay.
Oh, and the '90s was still the heyday of They Might Be Giants.

They played the little club located around the corner from my Atlanta apartment. My neighbor and I went to see them. She was waaaaay into them. We got there and found it sold-out. No Neds for us. 
(I did see Mojo Nixon there once, though.)
For '90s music, I also have to mention Five Eight--one of the best bands produced by Athens or, really, anywhere else. They're still around, too*, and here's a recent take on Weirdo, the title track from their 1994 release.
And here's the story of that album and its 2015 reissue.
* They played Tampa this weekend, but sadly I was up in Indy for a conference.

Saw them live on 6th Street in Austin way too many years ago and was blown away. Broken Hearted Savior is still one of my alltime favorite songs.
Not quite grunge, but the same night I saw Todd Snider and two songs of his are awesome for those of us who grew up in that era:

I found them around the same time I discovered the Apemen. Love em both.
True story about MOAM?:
Back in the day, they used to drag around a bunch of TV sets. If you saw them live, you know. Their rig was a van and a little enclosed trailer. On that trailer? A GRM sticker.
If they toured in an AstroVan, it would help prove God is not without a sense of humor.
