Kind of mindless still to do it, it has a big old sticker saying don't tow anything period! With just ~1K lb's mulch in the bed the trucks mine would sit very low in the rear. Did not get on the freeway that's for sure. There are also a crud load of replica ones built on standard 1500 by owners. It's just a hood side skirts and wheels on the exterior.
As for the mullet millionaires in the Midwest maybe but almost every single owner I meet here in California was a current of ex viper owner and definitely upper class.
