I can walk into any hardware store in the US and buy a 1/4-20, stamped steel eyebolt for about half a buck.
I need the exact same thing in M6x1.0, with a threaded shank of >50mm, to use as light-duty tiedown points in factory holes in my Scion.
Either my Google-fu is broken, or they simply don't exist, even in metric countries!
Can anybody help me find them??
McMaster Carr lists one with a 12mm shank. Not for half a buck, but $3.26 each. Part 3107T41 in zinc-plated steel.
>50mm is pretty long for a 6x1.0. Can you buy your 1/4-20 eyebolt with a 2" shank?
You might have to go with an eye nut (part 3112T51) and a piece of threaded rod (50mm stud is part 93210A016).
My local Ace Hardware has an amazing collection of metric fasteners and hardware, that's where I'd look first. They don't itemize hardware on their website so you'll have to go to the store nearest you and look in person.

Ace IS the place!
Everyone I've been to has a couple of aisles of metric and SAE fasteners of all varieties.

ACE Hardware does have scads of metric hardware, but no stamped metric eye bolts :(

All day long. ACE, for example, sells them with up to a 6" shank.
Grainger has them, 3 for $16.

Bolt depot has them with a 25.4mm shank. They are closed forged eyes, not stamped and they're $6.49 + twice that in S&H. http://www.boltdepot.com/Metric_forged_machinery_eye_bolts_with_shoulder_Steel_plain_finish_6mm_x_1.0mm.aspx
drill out the nutsert and tap for 5/16-18?
my .02
I gave a solution in my first post - not going to work?

Aha, I guess I just needed better Google-fu!
Found 'em in stainless, stamped steel, with the eye welded closed! Close enough, and only $2.50!
Marine rigging, FTW!

Read the product description - 49mm overall length, not 49mm shank as specified.
Glad to see you found one!
