Yep, the kiddo officially completed high school today. She received seven 'class cords' for academic excellence in individual classes, with a 4.237 GPA she also graduated with honors in the top 15% of her class. I'm so proud of her I could bust.

A few questions.
Is she going to college? If so for what?
and
How do you get a 4.0+ GPA and not be #1,2 or 3 in your class????

Yes, this. Not calling into question her abilities, just wanted to know what unholy manner of grade inflation this was.

grading on the curve ?
She wants to be a vet, her next challenge is to get the 'bridge' courses (the various English etc courses needed) done through the local tech school, then she will go to pre-vet, that will be at Clemson. From there it's UGA, they have a reciprocal lottery funding agreement with SC that'll help with her tuition etc.
The grading? Honors classes are on a 5 point scale now. So some of her classes were 5 points, some were 4. After the school did all the number crunching it spit out 4.237. The only way I know of to get a perfect 5.0 is to take ALL honors classes and I don't think that's possible (required electives, etc). So she did pretty dang good.
Hmmm, has she spent some intern time with a vet yet? My sister and BIL are vets and it's not exactly what they thought it would be when they started. (not trying to squash any dreams here, just making sure she knows what she's getting into before committing to a LOT of education). This summer would be a good time to put in some hours.
Sister unit went to Tuskegee University btw, got a very good education!

She's done some pre vet stuff at school and as part of her grades had to put in a lot of volunteer time with Well Pets here locally and has done real well with that. Right now I'm working on getting her in the local zoo to experience what goes on there, just have to find the right person to go to.

In reply to trucke:
and a very good one, thanks Michelin! They also have an automotive engineering doctorate program, which I believe there are some alums of on here.
As the son of two veterinarians, there is a reason none of the five kids wanted to be vets. Congrats and good luck none the less.
On to the next step!
Congrats Curmudgeon and daughter.
My uncle worked for the state for a lot of years as a vet consultant.I seem to remember him doing some work at the zoo and I know he was head vet for the wolves down here in the Francis Marion. I'll try to get a hold of him this weekend and see if he can get me a name at the zoo.
He might be in Houston getting a cancer treatment so it may take some time to get in touch with him.
Congrats! My kid was one of the brainy kids and not so much an athlete or a car guy. He is doing well in grad school that makes it all good. You did well raising her.
