Haha that is why I'm a dog person. We have four cats and one dog but I'm still a dog person at heart. You can tell if you died the cats would just be like damn who's going to feed us and clean up our poop

Depends entirely on the cats. It's like making a blanket statement about children. My two siamese go crazy when I get home from a trip, trying to jump up into my arms, and wanting affection before they want food. When I'm working, they're either in my lap, under the desk, or sitting on my printer. If I get up at night to use the bathroom, one of them will follow me, and sit blinking in the light, then follow me back to bed. They fetch too.

I think that you have a couple of cat-shaped dogs.

I always thought the difference between cats and dogs was Chinese vs Vietnamese for dinner.

I dunno... I've had siamese cats all my life - they've all been like this. Of course, I interact with them a lot, which siamese thrive on.

Our late cat, Theo, would give us an earful when returning from trips (despite having been regularly fed and cleaned up after by friends). He also used to fetch his stick-with-string-and-a-feather toy, haul it upstairs, and jump onto the bed with the stick in his mouth...

He was a funny cat in a lot of ways... But awesome.

siamese are strange like that. My grandmother has always had them.. they used to sit on her console TV (remember those?) with their tails down in front of the tube.. until she told them to move their tails. And they would tuck their tails to the side.

However, if you ever want to see how affectionate an animal can be... become part of a bird's "flock"

In that video the older cat was just helping the younger cat learn how to fall. A valuable thing when you spend your life investigating the tops of shelves.

Cats are dicks.......

I had one when growing up that would do everything in that 8 signs your cat is a dog video....plus he went out to use the bathroom.

Out of a dozen or so house cats we've had in the last 25 years (none Siamese), nearly all of them have behaved like this. The only people who think cats are aloof are people who've never lived with one for any length of time. With 3 cats and a yearling kitten in the house, I could use a little aloofness.

Yeah, cats are all different. Binky the Wonder Cat chooses when he wants to be loving, that's generally when the dinner dish is empty. He will play fetch on occasion and does not go bonkers over laser pointers, although he will act interested at times. To him it's 'okay, time to amuse the humans for a little while so they will leave me alone'.

They're narcissistic little pricks, but I'm NUTS about my two. I'm being manipulated by them.

They greet me at the door when I come home and generally pay a decent amount of attention to me. That said, they walk across whatever they want, and their butts are conveniently at nose level if they walk across a desk.

That puppy in the OP is beautiful, though. I love dogs, but I love the independence of cats on a practical level.

Yes, saying cats are aloof is a bit like saying dogs bark at you.

Siamese owner (been around them all my life) checking in. This is our goofball (actual name: Kili)

Blue point actually, but his mom is a lilac. I grew up with seal points like yours.

Speaking of cats:

Here's my calico, Mara. She's the most laid back cat I've had, except when it comes to boxes or paper bags. First pet adopted at the Oregon Humane Society on 1/1/2000.

She apparently loves ground coffee since I spilled some on the carpet and she went at it like cat nip. Ignores cat nip. Meets us at the door when we get home and waits patiently for us to get settled in bed before jumping up and claiming her spot at the end of the bed.
